I've been making smoothies lately for healthy food with frozen fruit, yogurt, juice and all, but the one I had before has broken with no warning at all. What's a good, sturdy blender I can pick up around here?

And all this time I thought the Magic Bullet was a sex toy.

My mom and both of my bros swear by their Magic Bullet for smoothie making. They keep telling me to get one. I keep telling them to buy me one.

blendtec is nice, but their shit is too expensive. doesn't last long either. damn pitchers not lasting more than 3-6 mos at most. poor design/implementation. loud as hell motors.

they could be better for less, but won't.

if you get the wrong ratio of ice to liquid, you have to stir or shake the pitcher. sucky blade/pitcher design.

[Edited on February 14, 2009 at 9:09 PM. Reason : magic bullet is not bad for what it is. there is a reason it has sold so many.]

Well I went around to Wal-Mart, Target, and even Lowes looking for a blender (Walmart and Target websites listed Magic Bullets) but they had nothing in stock. Eventually picked up this thing for 13 dollars, it got some good reviews when I googled it instore:

I like immersion blenders

you can make your smoothie in the glass you're going to drink it from

easier cleanup

In case of emergency, there were blenders that were certified that were able to be used to shred classified documents. I would trust they make a good national security smoothie.
