From either sleep mode of powered off, the machine is unresponsive. Pressing the power button to boot results in the touch keys across the top of the keyboard coming to life, the cpu fan spinning up, and the cd drive spinning up. No HDD. No display. No motherboard beeping. The HDD is fine though, provided the seagate HDD testing software is credible. The issue is not always present, sometimes it will boot up normally, in which case everything runs exactly as it should. It will usually boot up if you just let it sit for a couple hours(heat?). I'm thinking it's a motherboard issue because there was a large amount of dv2000s that were shipped with bad mobos and are now covered under an extended warranty. My serial number doesn't fit, but I still have my suspicions because it's very similar to the syptoms of the laptops with the bad mobos. Ideas?
On a similar note, what tactics can I use to make HP fix this shit for free? Some people outside the warranty have had success doing so, so I believe I have a shot. 2/15/2009 10:13:11 AM |
