Just curious...but my instances of being a bitch are becoming more and more often. It used to be every few weeks, but within the past year I've noticed myself not being as cool as I used to be.

For instance, if somebody is being obnoxious like tapping a pen or smacking gum in a public setting- I'm more likely these days (than when I was about 20 or 21) to say "hey man, you mind easin' up on your drum set over there?" or "hey, your gum is totally dead by now...how bout closing your mouth when you chew that. I can hear you all the way over here".

My not-so-functional alcoholic neighbor used to be a pretty common friend to hang around just because he's so funny and old....but lately, i'm blatantly telling him to go home or to go away- dead seriously. I just don't want to be around him.

I'm not sure if I should make an honest effort to be more easy going- and keep my mouth shut- or if I should continue with this progression of being more and more assertive.

My question, Teedub, is this:

Am I on the path to being a completely mean person? For those of you who know me, you may know that I'm usually pretty realistic and empathetic- but i'm noticing my intolerance is increasing and I'm less reluctant to bite my tongue anymore.

What can I do to still be cool and continue speaking my mind? There's not a slang vernacular for a "cool bitch'..........except for 'cougar'.

1. not letting little things annoy you by:

a. getting a better group of friends
b. a relationship
c. new hobby/activity that makes you happy about life

because of this reason: if you have a good life, things won't annoy you as much because many times people who are unhappy project their anger about their situation on other people/things.

No they will not. I don't answer emails from this 'bitch' at work anymore, so she has to make an effort to come by my office or call me, and I don't answer the phone either for her, so she has to leave a message and I get back to her at my 'earliest convenience.'

Assertive anyone = being a normal adult. Has nothing to do with being awesome or being a bitch.

Bitchiness is when you do shit without thinking about the thoughts or feelings of the people you are confronting. Also known in the male variety as being a prick. There's a giant difference.

You can be a total bitch without being assertive (passive-aggressive), and you can be assertive without being a bitch.
