I had the pulled pork meal but last time I ordered from them there was a darker pulled meat that i liked better (was it chicken?).
Anyways what is your favorite dish and side dish?
I had the apple sticks which I didn't like too much and the potato salad which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Are there any better BBQ places around here and if so where (near NCSU)?
How does Q Shack stack up?

So I'm guessing the other shredded meat with sweeter BBQ sauce (no vinegar) was chicken?

i've never been, but it might've been turkey. turkey bbq is good and is usually sweeter and no vinegar.

I wonder if Osama Bin Laden still enjoys Lexington "BBQ" (if you can even call it that)?

You people and your fucking barbecue. It's not that great no matter which "style" you choose. Don't get me wrong, it's tough to fuck up pork, but stop pretending the shit is ambrosia sent down by the gods above.

All things considered I'd rather have an average steak than the world's best "barbecue."

not a fan of ole time

I recently started enjoying the vinegar-based BBQ around here, and man, there was nothing impressive terribly good about anything I or zorthage got there.

I still need to get down to Stephenson's and give them an honest try. When I was a kid, the only thing there that I'd eat were the hushpuppies

You're comparison is off.

Grilling: high heat for a short time
Barbecuing: low heat for a long time

none of these chain bbq places come remotely close to the down east small time family owned bbq place (parker's, doug saul's, etc).

and i'm sorry, but shredded dry pork that i pour sauce on myself is the most disgustingly wrong thing in the world to do with bbq.

that said, the brisket at the q shack is okay. you can't find brisket around here much anyway. it's better than their bbq.

^^^ and those Lexington idiots only use the pork shoulder. I mean think about it. Down east we use the whole pig; that means there is bacon in our bbq. That automatically makes it better

since I live in an apartment and have no access to outdoor space to put anything to cook pig ive been using my crock pot and half shoulders.

it turns out pretty nicely and the shoulders are around 89 cents a pound.

Holy Smokes, at tryon and 401/70, just north of the split.

However it's classified, it's tasty. And pricey

So what is there other pulled BBQ that doesn't have vinegar in it? Do they sell pork bbq at Ole time that isn't vinegar based or is it chicken or beef or what? I ordered a combo platter once and it was on there and it had no vinegar in it, it just taste sweet and it was dark red/brown.

It came by itself as meat that was broken apart and mixed in a sweet BBQ sauce but on the menu all i saw was bbq sandwich, pulled pork bbq, brunswick stew, chicken, chicken pastries and that is it. I didn't even see brisket.
