By far, Elton John is the best performer I have ever seen. I enjoy his music, but never bought any albums or anything...I saw him in Vegas at Caesar's and he blew my mind. You couldn't tell that he has been playing for 30+ years by the way he played. It was basically his greatest hits for 2 straight hours...then he lets the first 4 rows of the audience get up on stage for his second to last song as he jams to "Saturday Night"...the energy, lights, movies/porn going on in the background, neons, etc. made this an unforgettable experience. I think he leaves Vegas in a weak for a short tour, then finishes up in April and retires from Vegas. If he goes near you, it is well worth the $Texas for tickets.

I got very lucky and had a cougar invite me to go with her.

Words to follow.

I was playing Paigow Poker with her and we were talking about shows. Somehow Elton John came up and I told her that my parents were going to see that the following night, but I was not. SHe said, "I have an extra ticket for tongiht's show if you wanna go." I replied, "well, I have a girlfriend..." She laughed and told me she was too old for me (I am 25, I thought she was 30...she had a 21 and 19 y/o and was in fact 41 asian/phillipine woman). After knowing that she wasn't coming on to me and was actually going to take me, I got excited. We went and had 8th row seats courtesy of Caesar's - she is a baller and loses $Texas. Luckily, my gf was cool with me going with the cougar. The last part of the story that made it priceless is that she left with 10 minutes left in the show to go gamble so that the tables didn't fill up. There was no awkward ending.

you can tell that he plays b/c he loves playing, not b/c he's making $$$$. I just spoke with a buddy today at lunch and he told me that when Elton played in Raleigh, he stayed in the Umstead. After the show, he can back and played piano for the 30 people near the piano until 3 AM just b/c he wanted to play some more...that's badass.

would've been cooler if he'd pulled the last 4 rows . . . but I still dig it.

i, too, saw him with billy joel.

It was 1998, I was in 7th grade, and it was the very first live concert I ever went to.

No show has ever beaten that experience.

i'd say pretty much every guy i know likes elton john's music. if they don't , they are full of shit...candle in the wind, tiny dancer, etc. are all classic hits.

they aren't in love with elton, but do enjoy his music. most are like me...like the music, never followed him, enjoy the greatest hits, but don't go buy tickets or albums...

If you are ever lucky enough to go to a show, keep an eye out for people who look like they work on the tour walking around the concourse before the show, Elton likes to have the first couple rows made up of young people and the often give out free upgraded tickets.
