My friend is looking to hire a wedding photographer. Another friend recommended this guy: http://www.andersonstudionc.net/gallery6.htm

What is your opinion? Maybe it's just me but it seems like most of his photos are off-centered.

i think "Wedding Photography," rather than "Fine Wedding Photography" would be a better description, personally.

Worse than crap.

That's asscrap.

I'm not sure what his rates are, but I'd imagine it's safe to say that "you get what you pay for" applies here.

Tell your friend it's a better use of their money to buy a point and shoot and give it to someone, and say 'Surprise! You're our wedding photographer!'

Holy shit...this shit sucks worse than some of TWW's "wedding photographers"

hahahaha good I'm glad it's not just me

The sad part is our friend used this guy a few years ago. This is from her wedding:

I swear I took better pics than that with my shitty point and shoot at the time.

That's seriously bad. Where is the wedding? Would she like suggestions or has she pretty much decided on this one?

Actually, her aunt who is a newspaper photographer is doing her wedding photos but she is looking for someone to shoot the bridal shower (or something, I don't remember what it was hah) since her aunt can't come into town until the day of the wedding.

But yeah, she thinks this guy's stuff sucks so is open to any suggestions

Oh, and it's in Raleigh

the only wedding photography i've ever really liked i can't remember who it was by, and he/she might not have even been good but they did a friend's sister's wedding and i really liked her pictures.

they were black and white (and some in color) taken downtown in like the older areas in like run down parking lots and on the train tracks and in front of old warehouses. like really industrial settings. which i thought was cool. like wedding dress and tux + industrial setting.

edit: i haven't really seen much wedding photography outside of my close friend's weddings. and that was all fine. i just wasn't like really "wowed" by any of it. there were some good pictures, but the industrial pictures i really liked

It is remarkable how bad these photos are.

I mean, I can't help but respect the guy a little bit for being able to sell such a completely worthless product.

Honestly, you'd get better results by putting a disposable on every table and telling the guests to go to town. Much better results.

Hell, give a toddler a camera, set it to auto (or green square, like this guys seems to be a fan of) and it'd turn out better.

Hey, they did that on a movie I saw on Hulu...

But holy shit... I also agree that even Kiwi could do a much better job at that shit... It's just amazing of how many shitty wedding photog's are out there. A friend of mine hired some shitty photog like 3 years ago in Charlotte. He had like 7 cameras, all film with all direct flash. He also took like 3 months to get them their wedding book and it was horrible. I hear so many bad wedding photography stories every week, it happens too often I think.

seriously, just go to any camera shop and say you are looking to buy 10-20 p&s and see if they can give you a bulk order for some kind of canon, fuji or whatever camera. Then place one on each table with memory and battery ready and let the minions run around. But you really don't need to do that since almost everyone now days have digicams...

^wtf?!?!? is she just orange like that? This motherfucker needs to learn about some simple and basic color corrections... shit.

Looks like dude was shooting iso 6400 in his "studio."

Although it is probably just a backdrop in his garage with some work lights. This guy make iphotou look like a pro.

He got it at a class portrait company's "too old and tacky to rightfully use any longer" bin.

Damnit, you beat me by a few seconds.

they look like a good couple to shoot, but god, that is an awful picture. This is why ppl should research properly when finding a wedding photographer and spend a little more for a good one. 10+ years down the road, you'll kick yourself.

A good place to look for talent is at a professional wedding or portrait organization. Usually you can obtain a list of wedding photographers in a local area and look at their work. This gives a lot more creditability to them since it's a paid membership and the fact that if they did a shitty job, they'd get shitted on by every other photographer at the organization and make them cry so much that they'd have to move out of town and find a new career.

Pro's are really harsh on other pros when they do awful work. Call outs are the best, much more fun than internet flame wars. (right kiwi , it's ok, we still love you)

we should grab all of the DSLR peps and create our own tww action news site. I mean Rob and I already started to cover shit around town and have people hire us as the "paparazzi group" to make people and places look pimp. People would be like "wow, why is there 20 photographers at this joint?". this could be serious business...

I love how he focuses on the background and not the subject. I should try that next time. It's almost as artistic as tilting the camera.
