that I'm permanently on Facebook's server... forever. And better yet, they have 100% rights to my content... Meh, none of my crap is useful. They can have it.

Facebook amended their ownership rights. It used to say that if you deactivated or deleted your account, all of your pics, anything you wrote, EVERYTHING left with you...Now they're saying that anything you put on facebook is theirs, forever. As in, if they like your pretty face, they can use it in whatever way they want, like to market their site...http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/02/17/facebook.terms.service/index.html
2/17/2009 10:27:00 PM
lulzim so glad i am not a part of that
2/17/2009 10:28:16 PM
No! I don't want them to use my face to market...my profile picture is too beautiful and it will overload the system with new users trying to make friends with me!
2/17/2009 10:28:38 PM
well if they were going to use your mug (lulz) you should get paidthe same way that people get paid for doing tv commericals
2/17/2009 10:30:24 PM

I think that in the end, people will just not give a fuckor not realize what they're signing up for....but goddammit, I'll be pissed if some picture I took and uploaded to facebook ends up on a Fuji bottle label
2/17/2009 10:33:38 PM
Well if they are gonna use my picture I just hope they put next to it that I want trees in myfarm.

HERE'S TO SENSATIONALISM!Also, there are provisions that haven't been mentioned very much yet about facebook not being able to violate your privacy settings, thus restricting their ability to do whatever they want with your shit.edit: And the new "forever" provision is to cover their ass in case you send messages and shit to other people, and those messages don't disappear when you delete your account.[Edited on February 17, 2009 at 10:42 PM. Reason : .]

2/17/2009 10:41:34 PM
I thought they did disappear, with all those tubes and enormous amounts of material???
2/18/2009 9:51:37 AM
Is this retroactive to materials posted before the switch? I am about to delete my Facebook right now either way, but I just want to know.
