that I'm permanently on Facebook's server... forever. And better yet, they have 100% rights to my content...

Meh, none of my crap is useful. They can have it.

Facebook amended their ownership rights.

It used to say that if you deactivated or deleted your account, all of your pics, anything you wrote, EVERYTHING left with you...

Now they're saying that anything you put on facebook is theirs, forever. As in, if they like your pretty face, they can use it in whatever way they want, like to market their site...

No! I don't want them to use my face to market...my profile picture is too beautiful and it will overload the system with new users trying to make friends with me!

HERE'S TO SENSATIONALISM!

Also, there are provisions that haven't been mentioned very much yet about facebook not being able to violate your privacy settings, thus restricting their ability to do whatever they want with your shit.

edit: And the new "forever" provision is to cover their ass in case you send messages and shit to other people, and those messages don't disappear when you delete your account.

I thought they did disappear, with all those tubes and enormous amounts of material???

... it's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material"

On a side note: Facebook has backed off it's policy today. Haha, I guess the crazy internets mob got to them: http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/02/18/facebook.reversal/index.html

Is this retroactive to materials posted before the switch? I am about to delete my Facebook right now either way, but I just want to know.
