lmao

when you're pushin a maintenance crew on a paper machine outage that loses $50,000 an hour when its down, that shit doesn't fly, whether you start back up in 12 hours or 20 hours

even on normal days, i have to get there an hour before my crew to meet with the operations maintenance coordinator to make sure we dont have any emergency breaks ins, prepare my daily schedule, work orders and safe work permits, and get production to do lock outs before we start

end of the day after my crew is gone completing paperwork, updating job steps on work orders putting in equipment notes and starting the next days schedule, plus any meetings we have are always at the end of the day that usually run late

so yeah, its a job you cant do in 8 hours, unless you start working everyone on 6 hours shifts

i love when people who are kinda new to the salaried world think the world will fall apart if they dont put in 70 hours a week

it wont

eh, I did it for a while when i was new. It got me several promotions and enough clout that pretty much no one keeps much of an eye on what i'm doing. I worked my ass off when i was younger so that I can work like a normal person now.

yeah i can see that

i def. did the same thing and am in the same boat now.

but after three years or so i realized it was totally destroying me

was partying harder than ever before, working like 80 hours a week, and not sleeping, at all.

much happier professionally, personally, and better in my interpersonal relationships now that i've moved beyond that and have the professional freedom to do what i want, when i want
