I have an Infocus LitePro 720 projector that I am looking to trade. It is in perfect working order. The bulb still has about 2/3 of its life left. I have it set to about a 100 inch screen, and the picture quality is fantastic. It has inputs so you can plug in your TV, DVD player, or computer/laptop. There is a small speaker on the projector itself, but there is also a place to plug in speakers. I am currently using a cheap set of computer speakers on it. I would prefer to keep these for myself, but could possibly include them in the trade if you need them.
Items I will consider trading for: - HD Video Camera - Nintendo Wii - XBox 360 - Playstation 3 - Flat Panel TV - Cash - I'm open to any other offers 3/6/2009 11:40:59 AM |

^Seriously.
The Litepro 720 series is more than a decade old (1997) . . . . all it has are VGA and s-video inputs, and it won't display any kind of HD whatsoever (including 720i/p). Not bad for stuff like playing old-school console games and such, but not something you'd use as an HT projector. 3/6/2009 7:11:43 PM |

By David D. Busch, Computer Shopper

At $9,199 (list), the LitePro 720 is $300 to $800 less expensive than the Polaroid and nView models, respectively, but concedes little in features. At 12.2 pounds, it's only a little heavier than Proxima and Lightware's offerings, and almost half the weight of the Polaroid and nView products. It has a whisper-quiet fan, making it the most silent unit in this roundup. Although the InFocus device has about the same footprint--6x11.7x15 inches (HWD)--as the other two $9,000-plus projectors, it is a full 1.75 inches shorter. In addition, its rounded case makes it seem even more compact.
All the controls are available from backlit buttons on the device itself and on the infrared remote. The controls on the projector and the remote use a disk-shaped rocking "mouse" flanked by a pair of mouse-style buttons. Either set of controls can be used to switch sources, freeze an image onscreen, adjust sound or video, and access a handy tabbed onscreen help display. The remote control is a bit large, but it is thin and light, making it more manageable than the nView and Polaroid remotes. The controls on the projector are mounted on the top surface, oriented toward the side, so the speaker doesn't need to stand behind the unit.
An S-Video jack, a composite-video/audio-in jack, and a jack for external amplified monaural or stereo speakers are on the projector itself. A 4.5-inch round and 1-inch thick satellite device called the Cable Wizard is tethered to the projector and contains the connectors for the monitor, monitor pass-through, audio, and mouse.
With a 150-watt metal-halide lamp that can average 2,000 hours between bulb updates, the LitePro 720 can fill up a 4-foot to 14-foot screen at distances of 5 to 18 feet. This projector is easily bright enough to use in normal room illumination on the biggest screen you're likely to encounter. It can be adjusted for keystoning up to 17 degrees, and has an elevating foot that can be used for larger adjustments. Like the other high-end projectors, the LitePro 720 is capable of virtual 1,024x768 resolution.
The LitePro active-matrix LCD blazed forth with the brightest image of any device in this roundup. The secret behind the LitePro 720's bright display is three separate 1.3-inch polysilicon active-matrix LCDs, one each for red, green, and blue lights. The tricolor images are reconverged as they leave the projector, providing an image with extra punch and contrast. It has an ANSI lumens rating of 450 to match the highest of any of the five projectors. This projector has a contrast range of 1 to 225; the other four in our tests average 1:125 to 1:150, so the LitePro is capable of displaying a greater range of tones than the other units.
The only glaring omission is stereo drivers; the unit comes instead with a single 3-watt speaker. Despite the audio handicap, the LitePro offers decent sound for easy listening in a moderately large presentation room. Another possible sticking point is the LitePro's system for connecting inputs: The Cable Wizard can be a clumsy arrangement.
Toll-free technical support is available weekdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT).
If the brightest possible image coupled with a compact design is more important to you than extra input sources and the few other features that are found in the Polaroid and nView units, you can save yourself some money by picking up InFocus's outstanding LitePro 720." |
