I don't know how to embed this but here is a picture of my dog's paw. He hasn't really limped on it or anything but he keeps licking it. This may be nothing but I just want to make sure he's okay. I don't have loads of cash sitting around for vet trips where the vet says "oh he'll be fine, don't worry about it" and then charges me $80+ dollarbucks but if it comes down to it I'll definitely take him in.

Any ideas on what this could be?

The picture isn't real clear, but by him licking it a lot it sounds like a hot spot. You'll need to see a vet to obtain some Neo-Predef Powder.

My girlfriend the vet student says- It looks like a lick granuloma, which dogs get when they compulsively lick one area. The picture is blurry, but it looks like it may be infected. If it is, you'll need some antiseptic to clean it and possibly antibiotics. The dog definitely needs to wear an e-collar to keep it from licking the area. I suggest seeing the vet to determine if it is infected and to pick up an e-collar.

I used hydrogen peroxide to clean it out then put neosporin on it and wrapped it loosely. he doesn't mind it on his paw. I'll try to have him checked out this week for some antibiotics

i go with a lick granuloma. but it looks pretty nasty so it'll def. need cleaning with something like peroxide and then put an e-collar on so he can't keep licking. i would recommend a vet visit though, he may need antibiotics.

Petsmart/petco sell e-collars if you want to have one to use this weekend.

You can also use benadryl to keep him calm. If it started out as allergies it might help with that as well.
