Didn't win one single game in their only year in existence but had decent attendance considering....

Week 1: @ Sacramento Surge 9, Raleigh-Durham 3 Att: 15,126

Week 2: @ Orlando Thunder 58, Raleigh-Durham 20 Att: 20,811

Week 3: Barcelona Dragons 26, @ Raleigh-Durham 14 Att: 17,900

Week 4: San Antonio Riders 37, @ Raleigh-Durham 15 Att: 11,818

Week 5: @ Frankfurt Galaxy 30, Raleigh-Durham 28 Att: 21,065

Week 6: @ London Monarchs 35, Raleigh-Durham 10 Att: 33,997

Week 7: New York-New Jersey Knights 42, @ Raleigh-Durham 6 Att: 10,069

Week 8: @ Montreal Machine 15, Raleigh-Durham 6 Att: 20,123

Week 9: Orlando Thunder 20, @ Raleigh-Durham 14 Att: 4,207

Week 10: Birmingham Fire 28, @ Raleigh-Durham 7 Att: 16,335

Fun Fact: NCSU Great Roman Gabriel was the coach. He was also the first asian american to start as QB in the NFL.

It also saddens me to know that their are possibly people on this board who were born during that season. I'm getting old

I knew this thread would end up in chit chat anyhow....

I don't remember the Skyhawks, but I did make it to a couple of Bullfrogs games right around the same time period.

I have a couple of the plastic stadium cups featuring the Skyhawks!

Those attendance numbers are inflated. There were so few people they made everyone sit on the side opposite the TV camera to maximize the visual that people were actually there. The giveaway was when either team scored and you could hear individual clapping instead of the roar of a real crowd.

From a concessions standpoint, it was an interesting time. We had the Skyhawks, a Jets/Eagles (I think) NFL exhibition game, Paul McCartney, and I think maybe The Who in about an 18 month period at Carter Stadium (as it was known at the time).

I was at every single home game for the Skyhawks during that terrible season

NC State legend Roman Gabriel was the head coach, I got his autograph on something

I attended two of the Skyhawks games. The first game I went to was played in the pouring rain. It had rained heavily all day long. The few fans that were there stayed at the back of the stadium under the second level seats. It was shown live on the USA Network, and I am sure it looked like no one was in attendance.

I remember that. I was 11. It looks like Major League Soccer did a good job of copying names (Fire, Galaxy, NY-NJ).
