there is some sort of university policy where they have to change the way to registration interface every 2 5/7 years.

i think.

It's not that bad. If you set up a wishlist beforehand, then registration's really fast.

I think the wish list feature is absolute genius, but I just don't like how everything is so spread out. I liked how everything lined up and you can see all of your classes at once in the old interface. Also, the new "My Class Schedule" part of it makes no sense in the way it is set up. The old schedule view also looked nicer.

yeah wishlist is a decent feature, but we've had xtracs and lately tracster for years now for pre-registration planning, and the sluggishness and cumbersome 'click through 6 layers' just to add one class is horribly frustrating

it's like they brought all of the bloated shittiness of Vista-WebCT to the registration system

i don't like it because ITS ORACLE/PEOPLESOFT

PEOPLESOFT CAN GO SCREW ITSELF

slow as hell, not intuitive, uses weird ass AJAX/iframe implementations so it's really hard to integrate anything into it... ugh.

i liked tracs just fine, thank you very much

^if you were part of that thank you, it's leaps and bounds better than anything else for planning

but I think sometimes it doesn't understand lab sections when they have the same number as the main course (no L in the number, so it thinks you've got two of the same class)

the wish list was about the only useful thing this had to offer.

There are some quirks with the data we get for it now. Everything switching to SIS was supposed to remove course letters from sections, but sadly that hasn't actually happened. Now some courses/labs have letters, others don't, while others have a new special topics ID.

It's next in line for some upgrades, so hopefully before the next registration period things will be ironed out.

^^The easy way to resolve all this is to go back to the old system that worked, people loved, and are used to.

Seriously: what's up with changing this shit every few years? Stop it

Yes.
Maybe I'm missing it, or maybe it's yet another thing they've fucked up: there's no graphic representation of one's schedule, like these: message_topic.aspx?topic=533633
The one that's there only places things within the hour, so a class starting at 950 is in the exact same place as one at 910

You won't hear me arguing.

You can use Tracster ( http://www.wolftech.ncsu.edu/tracster/ ) to generate a nice PDF for your schedule.

I can't
It won't let me add both the class section and lab section in either PY or PCC Sounds like what you addressed above, though.

If you can get me the exact course numbers and section numbers for each, I can take a look.

Just for the record, with the redesign this issue should now be fixed.

Also, we need a new name for the tool -- Tracster was based off the old "TRACS" registration name, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

If you still want to be able to visualize everything, you can just 'Switch To Time Block Creation' and make up the block anyway, that's what I did for a lab and an overlapping class override
