That's a different floor than the one that the Men's team plays on. I guess it's cause of the RBC logos?
I mean, teh stripes are black instead of red, and there's no men's 3-pt line. Did they move the floor from Reynold's over or soemthing? Why am I asking you? 3/28/2009 1:13:50 PM |

Well, whaddaya know:
http://www.nj.com/rutgerswomen/index.ssf/2009/03/video_preparing_the_floor_for.html
^^I was serious. I just figured if the place is gonna host a basketball game, they've already got a court, why would the NCAA make another floor to take to each site to play a handful of games on. Obviously, I was wrong.
Is this fallout from the sticker issue?

if you look at the court used in memphis, it has an empty lane. the regular court has a blue painted lane.
these are ncaa specific courts. 3/28/2009 3:39:19 PM |

maybe for the women's tourney, i watched them put the stickers down for the mens tourney, in memphis atleast

joerrad All American 3075 Posts user info edit post |
so another question. of course the 4 locations now for the men's tourney have these specific ncaa floors. it seems like some of the floors that were used in the first round did indeed look to be ncaa specific floors like the following:
Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina (host: Atlantic Coast Conference) Sprint Center, Kansas City, Missouri (host: Big 12 Conference) Wachovia Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (host: St. Joseph's University) Taco Bell Arena, Boise, Idaho (host: Boise State University) American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida (host: Florida International University)
but then these had other floors that did not have the same black baselines, etc. University of Dayton Arena, Dayton, Ohio (host: University of Dayton) Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Minneapolis, Minnesota (host: University of Minnesota)
why would they do some of the floors but not others?
also, unless the floors are cut up and sold, seems like a waste to do those every year...unless they redo them every year. 3/28/2009 3:48:41 PM |

For NCAA games, the RBC Center has to look like it is soley our building from the inside at least for tv. When we hosted the first and second rounds they covered up all hockey related ads, all the team banners were wrapped around the rafters, and any ad by a non NCAA sponsor had to be covered. 3/29/2009 10:11:03 AM |
dweedle All American 77386 Posts user info edit post |
yea the NCAA is pretty strict about ads... i got some of those blow-up sound-makers at the Hoop City thing in Minneapolis in 2001, then when i took them to the game and used them, an usher came by and took them because they said Mt. Dew (true) 3/29/2009 10:15:41 AM |

When we hosted the women's 1st and 2nd rounds where we beat Robert Morris and Baylor, if you had Doritos or any type of candy, you had to put it in a Dasani cup if you were going to sit on press row.

For this season, the NCAA has 16 floors that were used at both men's and women's sites. no more stickers are allowed. The host school gets their logo, but the NCAA puts it there, most likely why ours is the "old" block S.
Also, as mentioned ^x? all non NCAA ads must be covered.
And speaking of NCAA ads, have you all noticed that all the NCAA championships this year are sponsored by Vitamin water REVIVE? well that's because the Revive flavor of Vitamin water is the only flavor that doesn't contain NCAA banned substances.
That's like saying NC State athletics... Brought to you by Orange gatorade........... 3/31/2009 12:26:19 AM |

i just understood what this thread was asking, but I don't get it. what does the "new" logo look like? The one on the court looks like the normal logo right? 3/31/2009 12:30:51 AM |
jtmartin All American 4116 Posts user info edit post |
for the ACC tournament they had to put stickers over EVERY cupholder in the stadium that said something like "ACC tournament" or whatever, and then had to take them all off after it was over. What a monotonous job 3/31/2009 12:31:37 AM |
asdf1234 Veteran 386 Posts user info edit post |
^^ The "new" logo has the "N" and "C" inside the S touching the edges of the S. The old one, which was used on the floor for the Womens Tournament, doesn't touch the edges of the S. Not a real noticable change.
They should have just used the original Tuffy to stop all the confusion 3/31/2009 7:44:02 AM |

Sorry about the size difference. Basically the N and C on the new logo fill up more. The main difference is the lack of a "hole" in the C in the current logo. 3/31/2009 10:50:01 PM |
