When my ship goes out to sea (like where I was for the past couple months), all 200 of us share 32KBps.

what kind of connection do these at&t wayports have like at starbucks and stuff?
i'm getting better upload speeds at starbucks than at home - like 4 times faster.
download sucks still - probably because it's wireless. 4/6/2009 8:57:18 PM |

how the hell am i getting 770KBps/54KBps all of a sudden...
i thought DSL was the same speed at all times no matter what the area's usage is? this is odd. 4/10/2009 5:13:35 AM |

DSL is unreliable. You get what you get. Quality of connections/wiring and distance from the station make a huge impact on performance.4/10/2009 10:45:31 AM |

that's why you live somewhere where you get to pick your isp. 16,000kByte-18,000kByte peak here with TWC. 4/10/2009 4:33:37 PM |

I thought DSL was more expensive than cable. especially when you factor in the bundle savings.
at least try to convince him/her to get RR lite. it's still twice as fast as your current DSL

and where did you get 200kB/s upload? I didn't think they offered that fast upload anywhere in the area. 4/12/2009 6:07:35 PM |

my plan is to max out the connection 24/7 with downloads so whenever any of the other guys want to use the internet, they time out / feel it's too slow lol
then they'll want to go back to comcast too
and i don't live in raleigh anymore - moved to ATL 4/13/2009 8:55:44 PM |

^ATL has 200kB upload? Damn them. I need Uverse. Although Uverse has a 1.5mb max for upload i believe. Why isn't FIOS here
