Dude, for the right amount of money, I'd consider it. On one condition: I get to use some thickass rubber gloves. I don't want to be able to feel your schwantz.

bent valve on a bimmer? what gives? What series? That means kissed piston. Do you trust it?

its a 540 I missed a shift on once a long time ago. light ticking that I could track down eventually became the noise I hear now which is a loud tapping coupled with a lose of compression. if it was hitting a piston I'd think it would have broken off by now. if something like the rod broke, I'd suspect there would have been ticking first

If a rod broke the people 4 houses down would be able to diagnose it if you tried to run it.

I would help but i think it would take 4 of me to even lift that head off of the block >.<

If the valve floats once long enough, then yeah, it could have kissed a piston ONCE without breaking. Bad things happen when valves kiss pistons and the piston survives. Often pinches the ring lands, causing excessive oil consumption. Maybe cracked piston.

I've got no qualms about diagnosing the engine or doing the work. Just be forewarned that it ain't gonna be cheap, not from my labor perspective, not from the parts perspective. And we won't know completely just how bad until the head comes off. I can pick a bent valve without removing the head...but I can't tell you shit without yanking the head. Not a simple task on that engine.

Can you change my spark plugs?

2003 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6 DOHC Duratec engine.

I would do it myself except I dont have the necessary tools (ratchet extensions and U joint). Here is a short writeup of the process:
http://www.taurusclub.com/wiki/index.php/Changing_the_Spark_Plugs_on_the_Duratec

Let me know if youre interested and how much cash you want.

my 3.9l dakota had a valve kiss a piston once....6months after i sold it guy paid my dad to fix the top end.

want to diagnose a part-throttle/under load miss in a slant six. still need to pull the plugs to find out what cylinder is it cause its a steady miss. cant determine if its elec/fuel or even possibly a vacuum leak. definitely showed up after i put on new plugs/wires/cap/rotor but it seems to miss more at idle if i pump the brakes(vac pwr brakes). i generally fix it by waiting till she begs for mercy the manually shifting the 904.

have no fear though, the 131,000?? /6 will gladly do 60+ down tryon in traffic.

[Edited on April 25, 2009 at 12:18 AM. Reason : dream car: full resto a-body, big block stroker, manual valve body on the column]

[Edited on April 25, 2009 at 12:19 AM. Reason : bangin' gears, barkin tires.. joe dirt style]
