if you looked harder through that thread you would've found where people ask for suggestions on their builds, info on what parts to use, etc. There is no need for this "official" thread when that thread already exists and has been around for years. its full of lots of great information.
if you say you're a n00b, where are you getting this idea that you need an Asus board, ATI card, and AMD cpu?
and you didn't even address some of the most fundamental factors of a new computer: how much you want to spend and what you want to do with it.
this thread is worthless. somebody lock this shit 4/9/2009 2:41:56 PM |

Never said i 'needed' was just saying that's what i used in the past.
oh yeah wouldn't want to spend more than like ~$800. even less is better. i've already got all peripheralz and stuff

For the price range you suggested, I'd look at his "Intel Value Midrange" or "AMD Performance Midrange" as a starting point. 4/9/2009 3:06:54 PM |

I mean everything i know about computer hardware is ~6 years ago
The two desktops i've had the ATI cards outlasted everything else on them.

yeah, you don't want what you're saying you want.
just put in the other thread what you're trying to accomplish and let them pick
don't go AMD. 4/9/2009 3:36:50 PM |
