NEW YORK — A baseball fan says he was ejected from Yankee Stadium for leaving his seat to use the bathroom while "God Bless America" played.
Bradford Campeau-Laurion filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against New York City and the Yankees.
The lawsuit contends he was made a victim of political and religious discrimination on Aug. 26.
It says two police officers who ejected him were enforcing a Yankees policy that keeps spectators in their seats during the song.
A spokeswoman says the city law office has no immediate comment. A Yankees representative did not immediately return a call.
On one hand it seems kind of ridiculous, but on the other if this is a policy printed on the back of the tickets saying that fans are to not walk around in the stands during the pre-game songs, then the guy is SOL. It doesn't matter whether it's a safety issue or the organization is just being patriotic, it's their stadium and their rules. September 11, 2001 impacted a lot of people in NYC and the surrounding area, and I don't see them giving up this practice anytime soon. 4/15/2009 3:24:45 PM |

But then he could sue them for serving him the drinks that made him have to piss in the first place
This will be tied up in litigation for months, and the guy will end up getting free tickets out of the deal
and the policy will hence be rewritten 4/15/2009 3:28:56 PM |

i just went to look at my ticket from last year and there's nothing on the 2-font novel on the back of it that says anything about bring ejected for leaving the seat at any time during any song 4/15/2009 3:31:51 PM |

I bet their is more to the story but I assume a private organization has the right to exclude anyone they wish from viewing the game. 4/15/2009 3:36:46 PM |

sounds like if he had apologized (don't know that he didnt) they would have dismissed it, but he may have made a scene about wanting his rights protected

I wish this kind of policy was in place at NCSU.
We don't need the "Red" and "Wolfpack" chants during the National Anthem.....but thats another debate. 4/15/2009 4:47:15 PM |

Doesn't the anthem actually represent the freedom to get the fuck up and take a piss while it's playing? 4/15/2009 6:30:34 PM |

yeah, you should be able to piss during the 7th inning stretch, this is fucking retarded. OMG somebody knocked our towers over 8 years ago and we've sang this song ever since, go fuck yourself yankees. I've always hated you, now even more. and ill be there in a few months to look at your new stadium
did the yankees actually pay for all of this? i know they were asking for money, so if the taxpayers paid any of it i'd say they're not in a private building really.

Well taxpayer money went into the RBC Center, but the public doesn't own it. I don't really know who owns the new Yankee Stadium.

I doubt that anyone that enters the stadium implicitly agreed to forceable removal for getting up to take a piss at an inopportune time. If this guy has the money (doubtful) he could take it as far as it needed to go and this rule would be struck the fuck down no problem.4/15/2009 8:06:48 PM |

I think the guy probably ended up being an ass when the police asked him to stop moving around. Most police in this kind of situation will warn you. I don't support assholes, and he probably was one. 4/15/2009 8:10:06 PM |
