The now ex-lady changed her mind, so I'm kind of stuck with the ring. Bailey's won't buy it back, but I get credit for the diamond.
Anyone thinking about buying something from there and want $4500 at some sort of discount?

^I am not spending 10,000 on an engagement ring. Whomever came up with that rule of thumb is a moron. I'd rather have a nicer wedding, put more money into a house, go on a better honeymoon... I think most guys would agree.
But to empathize with urge311, that sucks man, sorry 4/19/2009 9:50:56 AM |

im well out of any sort of 30 day policy... it took her about 8 months to change her mind.
i'm not in desperate need of cash, so it's probably still better to wait and get rid of the credit than to sell the diamond. 4/19/2009 11:20:27 AM |

Why not try to work things out with her? Of course we don't know the situation, but there's always hope? 4/20/2009 8:20:44 PM |

It's your lucky day. I woke up this morning wishing I had $4500 more bling. I'll go $1200 on it.4/20/2009 10:41:16 PM |

I was always taught that you purchase a cheap ring (~$1500) to propose with, then when you figure out she's not a gold digger get her a real ring 5-10 years into it.
My stepdad started out with like a .8 carat at proposal and replaced it with a 3 carat internally flawless. I think it was around 40% of his yearly wage 4/21/2009 12:23:32 AM |

$4,500 is not bad at all. That was way less than what I spent on a ring...but then again, i got my woman a 1.53 carat ring....
I got a bargain on a: Round, brilliant cut solitaire, 1.53 carats in weight, measuring 7.52 mm in dimaeter X 4.56 mm deep, Color is H, Clarity is SI2, Girdle is thin and unpolished, finish is fine.
All that is set in a Tiffany mounting with a platinum tapered shank and a 6 prong platinum head. 4/21/2009 10:53:46 AM |

my girl would have killed me if I spent $4500 on a ring (and for that I am glad because I had no intentions of spending anything close to that anyways) 4/21/2009 12:21:47 PM |

some places will let you hold the ring and use it for the future when u plan to buy something if u are likely to get engaged again 4/21/2009 1:21:28 PM |

If you can, hold on to it until X-mas comes around. You missed V-day...so the next big "go buy me a diamond" event will be X-mas....you will get the most bang for your buck. 4/21/2009 2:33:20 PM |

^ worst idea ever
^^ winner
You'd be trading something with low resale value to something with high resale value. Its always easy to turn over a really nice quality watch. 4/21/2009 2:46:25 PM |

They don't carry either. Best you can hope for is paying $500 too much for a Tag.
Buying two Tags and selling them might not be a terrible idea.

It's going to be tough to get your money out of it. My advice is to stand outside the Bailey's and mention what you want for it to customers going in. 4/21/2009 4:18:07 PM |
