Does it have a lift on it? Lots of space for some bigger tires. 4/25/2009 10:07:48 PM |

It's the only engine naturally balanced for zero vibration due to it's design. 4/26/2009 10:22:58 PM |

I loved the 300 in my old ford. The traffic waiting behind me on on-ramps didn't.
But put it in low gear and that sonambitch would pull the drain plug out of the Atlantic. 4/26/2009 10:51:53 PM |

definitely not doing much/anything to it powerwise for a while..still got race cars to finish. I will throw on a toolbox, tint the front windows and add boost/pryo/trans temp gauges before too long. 4/26/2009 11:04:30 PM |

Hate to call you out Keith but WRONG.
Straight six, when speaking in terms of power pulses, is inherently better dynamically balanced; 6 neither divides evenly into nor is it evenly divided by the number of strokes in the Otto Cycle. The only bad thing is that long crank means lower resonant frequency.4/28/2009 3:20:21 PM |

im glad my jeep is an '06. it still has the 4.0 straight six. i hate the fact that they replaced them when they designed the JK 4/28/2009 4:08:33 PM |

bout the only thing the 4.0/4.2 is good for is a boat anchor, you've got about 60whp in 4wd 5/1/2009 8:52:02 AM |

^ Wat?
They have plenty of power for what it is. The 4.0/4.2 is a great engine IMO. Decent torque, and power. 5/1/2009 7:02:08 PM |

yea traded in my 150k zj just because i didnt need 3 drivable vehicles(and 1 not drivable). never gave an ounce of trouble and I would have driven it at least another 50k.
changed the oil and put on a waterpump as a maintenance item before it started weeping 5/1/2009 10:19:14 PM |

what do you consider trouble? the whole thing falling apart or leaving you on the side of the road? 5/2/2009 10:44:32 PM |
