Do you think NC will get hit this year? Also, El Nino might be around.

One can only hope we'll end this drought (and by that I mean lack of hurricanes). Incoming flaming for wanting hurricanes. Blow me.

Never been into flying kites. Mildly retarded IMO. I don't see the point, unless you're kite surfing.

I love hurricanes. See the forces of nature at work like that is awe inspiring.

However, I hope its a very quiet season. Its pretty freaking gay everytime we have a big storm some retard is trying to link it to global warming, purely for sensationalism.

oh wow, it has been 20 years since Hugo. I remember a tree falling into our roof and running around the back yard of the neighbors across the street through the pile of trees that had fallen down.... and I was six...

I think it's about time "Ryan" made the list. There have been enough ethnic and 1800's names that start with "R".

And I hope it's a mild season also- I have open water field sampling to do and hurricanes tend to ruin that with unparalleled efficiency.

I wonder if any will come through VA this year.

I'm just wondering how well my area will take a sustained tropical storm/depression. From what I've heard, hurricanes aren't usually what they get here. Simple thunderstorms have put this place in a fairly bad spot before, so maybe a storm will get me out of work (har har).

From what I remember...VA got rocked pretty good by Hurricane Isabel. DC was in a whole mess of trouble as well.

An interesting little formation is spinning off of Florida's left coast near Tampa.

I lived in Va Beach during Isabel. Shit was crazy. We lived about 6 blocks from the beach and it was over 2 weeks before utilities were restored. It was the first time that we ever went to my family's house in NC to get away from a hurricane.

usually, it seems, storms on a similar projected path to Bill's end up just brushing the coast at worse.

All summer long at my internship, there was no "good" weather like this. Now that I'm done for the summer - the hurricane season finally decides to start.

Luckily it's close enough to the coast most people should just get a few inches of rain.

I would rather have the storms wait another couple weeks before doing their thing.

This storm might give Raleigh cloud cover and light rain.

Looks like TS Erika could form in the next day or so. Curious to see what a track would look like for this one, as I'm planning on camping in the OBX over the weekend...

I don't think you'll have to worry about that one. All of the models either take it waaay out to sea or don't even develop it at all. Though it is still early.
