I'm looking for software that will convert a DXF/DWG to an SVG. I've found ABViewer and a couple others but was wondering who has experience with this and what did you find that works well? It needs to be able to maintain the names of layers, etc from autoCAD and translate them over to an SVG so that they can easily be referenced in Java.

IIRC the developer build of Inkscape will import DXF files.

Without knowing anything about SVG files, other than seeing them on my cell phone, my question would be why are DWF files not good enough?

Not sure what your web application is for, but I've been hearing good/ambitious things about Freewheel
