OK, here's the back story that got us contemplating this.

My coworker is on some alternative dating website, which kind of creeps me out in ways you can't believe. Well, the fact that he is on it doesn't creep me out so much, more the fact that he told me about it and I barely even know him. Anyway, he was "showing me around" the website today and clicked on the shemale section. I noticed they classify themselves as gay or straight, and I was wondering what the distinction is.

I would say that the shemale who dates women would be considered a lesbian. Simply because the whole point in transitioning is because they identify as female.

some people believe that a "straight man" will date a shemale because, they want the appearance of a woman, soft skin, tits, no hair etc...they want the individual to act like a woman, but sexually they want the dick

Shemales have "transitioned" everything except for their genitals. I'm assuming they're women everywhere except where it counts because they identify as female.

I would assume they go after women. Assuming they have the outward appearance mostly that of a woman (being boobs and feminine face), then women-women would make them lesbian. Rather, if they went after men, they'd be straight, but with a surprise.

It probably more depends on what they identify themselves more with. I'm also assuming they associate with women simply because I don't know any shemales (that I'm aware of ) and figure that's the most logical alignment.
