So, I have decided to hire a personal trainer and not sure how to go about it.
I live in Durham, have done searches online and looked on citysearch etc. The only ones I come up with are those that work at a gym hired by the gym ( i think)
I really dont want to join a gym but need someone to basically help me get in shape, work over my diet etc. Would this be a personal trainer, fitness coach etc?
Where should I be looking? what should i ask?

what are you expecting of your trainer? Just someone to tell you what/how much to eat and what exercises to do or someone to actually take you through workouts and meet with 1-2 times a week?

i can go either way but probably someone to meet with me first at least once a week and then gradually taper off

bodybuilding.com or just post up your diet here, someone is a licensed nutritionist and I'm sure there are some nutrition majors lurking around.

personal trainers generally won't give out nutrition advice other than mypyramid.gov, it's out of their scope of practice unless they're also a real nutritionist. Sure they likely know what to do as far as diets, but they shouldn't be paid for handing out nutritional advice when they're not licensed to. Off the books you could get a plan, but that'd be just as good as asking what to do from us.

My major is broscience btw, how can I help? I've got over 1400 posts on bodybuilding.com's losing fat section after my 110lb weight loss. I preach my broscience daily & love to rant.

Carb cycle begins in 10 days, care to join?

P90X

You will love it. Great workout for women, it is rather difficult at first, but probably better than any personal trainer can give you.

Tony Little IS a personal trainer, so why not just do the home video workouts. They work wonders.

a certain part of having a personal trainer is developing a relationship and someone to ask questions to and motivate you. a home video isn't going to do that for everyone.

One of my friends is a PT at Fitness World in Durham - but she also offers training outside of the gym.

Here's her profile:

no crossfit. you will get rhabdomyolysis and die.

do what arnold schwarzenegger told one of his competitors.

take one tea spoon of salt per workout, and increase it by one every day.

day 1: 1, day 2: 2 etc.

works like a champ.

well any "hookup" would involve joining Lifestyle Family Fitness in Cary....if you join you get $150 gift card OFF of any training packages...assuming you use it to get a package instead of just applying it towards 3 free ones I could throw in a few extra freebies....Either way you'd get at least 3 sessions.
