Any errors showing up in the Application Event Log?
How long have you let it freeze before giving up? 6/12/2009 1:56:31 PM |

I just created a new presentation and can dick around with a chart without issue.
Do you have the same problem with a new presentation? Are you inserting an existing chart object? 6/12/2009 2:13:25 PM |

this was a file from scratch. i copied/pasted from excel as that worked fine for me in the past.
i've run the office diagnostics, which came up with nothing. i've repaired office as well, but that didn't fix anything...

How about a new chart? Just insert the chart and change the data around...still breaks? 6/12/2009 4:14:03 PM |

Uninstall Office completely. Uninstall any office addins. Reboot and reinstall Office. Apply all the updates until there are no updates left.
Though it sounds like you've got something weird in your excel data. 6/12/2009 4:54:34 PM |

ya know, I don't actually recall if I installed SP2 on that machine or not. I don't see why I wouldn't have, but I don't recall doing it...
dammit, meant to put those files on a network drive to test from another machine... guess that'll happen later
