So I'm having an issue with a company...let's say this company is a large provider of cell phone service...that's NOT AT&T.
"So tell me why, in a couple months when my contract is up, why I should renew my contract with you. Can you give me ANY incentive to stay as a customer of yours? ANY?
he says," You know...I really can't give you one...."
-now I would have accepted the bare minimum....really I would have...even a $10 "we appreciate you as a long time customer coupon and we're sorry your experience with our company has been so unsatisfactory" ANYTHING that would have said that they gave a shit about me as a customer.

So after the conversation I get off the phone and start planning my verbal assault for the next time I call...but after a few hours I realize that this will get zero accomplished and based on experiences that I've heard of, this will be comedy for the customer service rep....So I decide that I'm going to call up and when I get the same answers, I'm going to say, 'My name is so-so from NBC/CBS/ABC/FOXetc and I'm a news reporter who received a call from a woman who had this experience with the company. Then I'm going to say 'Look....times are tough right now and we know that and don't want to get anyone fired or in trouble because let's be honest here....jobs aren't easy to find especially with a 'mark' on your references so we decided to let you and your company solve the issue with the customer and we won't go forward with the story...which in these economic times could be a disaster for your company'.

Now legally speaking I figure I can stretch the truth and say that I while I may not be a paid/employeed reporter for said network... if I went to them, even if I went on their website and posted this in their online forums, I would then kind of be a 'reporter' for them.... So does this sound kosher?

The fact that you think that me wanting to feel as though I got my money's worth when I paid for something is me being a horrible person is sad. Just for the sake of clarification, here's the issue:

my contract is up in a few months...I've been paying insurance on the phone since the beginning and was told there was NO deductible (could have been in fine print not arguing that, but the point is that the sales person told me otherwise and I trusted it to be true)... so I'm having an issue with the phone and I call up and after speaking with 3 different people and getting 3 different bits of information...I come to the realization that by the time my contract is up I will have paid $120 in insurance...and there is a $50 deductible. And since a new phone costs about $170 (with a new 2/yr contract of course) I would be an idiot to cancel my insurance NOW as I've pretty much paid for the new phone already... I have the blackberry and there is no newer model except the Storm, which I don't want because everyone I know who has it, hates it and I'm not going to be convinced otherwise. So...on the last conversation I said (almost verbatim IICR):
"So tell me why, in a couple months when my contract is up, why I should renew my contract with you. I've been a customer for a long time and I'm having issues with my phone right now, a couple months before I can upgrade and at least get a NEW phone (which after all is said and done I will be paying $50 for regardless (either I cash in on my insurance and pay the deductible or I sign a new contract and after the rebates, pay $50) so can you at least move up the date that I can do this?"

I would have accepted and this would actually not even be a loss for them at all considering they're getting $50 regardless, 'well ok, we'll go ahead an move your upgrade date to now, we apologize for the misinformation you were given' and if they really gave a shit, 'we'll go ahead and waive the ins fee on your next contract' or 'we'll give you an extra rebate'......
