When cops post in a spot where it is not hard to speed such as on the bottom of a hill, its bullshit. Its that time of the month when cops get desperate to meet their quota and they pretty much "force" people into getting tickets whether they set up speed traps or even lie about someone speeding.

Trust me when a cop's job is threatened and the State is already in a budget crisis, they will do anything to make money for the state to keep their job. Its even more frustrating when I see them speeding and there is no reason for it.

^^ just because they're a cop, even just parked on the side of the road doesn't mean his radar is on or even watching you. I had a friend who thought my radar detector would go off everytime a cop passed when he rode with me. They aren't always in speedcatcher mode.

I remember coming home late one night down hammond rd (speed limit: 45).

I was doing 70 or 75, and I passed a cop, and thought FOR. SURE. I would get pulled.

In my less fuel-efficient days, I'd regularly go 15-20 over, and I got up to 80-85 more than once.

If the cops need tickets, they camp out on hammond just south of 440. Just as soon as they can get back in the median, they can pull someone else.

Let me explain this once and for all. Not all calls we respond to require an emergency "lights n siren" response. However there are many calls that, while they are not full blown emergencies, still require us to get there in a very prompt manner. All calls are prioritized, and depending on that and officer discretion, dictates the level of response needed. I have learned that the same kind of person who complains about a cop driving fast, is the same person who complains about the response time. I assure you there is no point speeding for the sake of speeding. When you have no place to go, speeding does not make the 12 hour shift go by quicker. Also, when on general patrol, going slower helps you spot stuff. If I cop is going fast without lights on I assure you they are responding to something.

They don't, but I do see the guy's point. Speed traps at the bottom of a hill on a street that already has an artificially low limit to begin with just isn't cool in my book. Often these traps will be at the bottom of a hill that just so happens to coincide with a 10 mph drop in the speed limit. So you could be going 3 mph over, enter the new speed limit zone while coming down the hill and get busted.

There are plenty, plenty of other speeders that the cops could be pulling, but they've decided to bust the guy coming down a hill 5 mph too fast. There's a reason you'll see a cop car parked half way down a long hill but you'll hardly ever see someone pulled on the belt line/highway - where people routinely go 20 over the speed limit.
