Did anyone else hear NPR yesterday where they had a "make-your-own" fireworks program? (SOT, I think....,) complete with multiple guests giving on-air instructions on how to make fireworks from "mostly available" ingredients, including: melting saltpeter on your home stove, or making your own wick for your own hand-made fire-crackers, and my favorite: somehow obtaining red phosphorous while not getting put on federal anti-meth lists, and others...
But then, as you'd expect from liberal media, WUNC had all-day-long PSAs suggesting that no one set off their own fireworks, and to leave it to the pros.....
On the one hand: "Make your own half-ass fireworks", and on the other: "even store-bought ones are too dangerous!"
LOL.....

if you started scraping off the back of paper matchbook strikers now, you might have enough by next 4th of July to make a roman candle.7/4/2009 5:22:02 PM |

Imagine that, a radio station that gets a lot of its funding from the federal government was running PSAs paid for by the federal government

NPR reports that 11% of their annual funding comes from the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That's a significant amount. 7/6/2009 1:23:59 PM |

I understand why you might not bat an eye if you lost 11% of your pay considering 11% of $0.00 is still $0.00, but those of us with net positive income (like the CPB) are somewhat differently positioned. 7/6/2009 1:55:40 PM |

Take your boy Duke here for example. I doubt he'd say an 11% increase in his child support payments "ain't shit." 7/6/2009 3:39:38 PM |

I'm sure Mrs. Fail Boat wouldn't mind if the size of her hubby's fully erect penis increased from 3.0 to 3.33 inches.
