Watching a DVD on my friends LCD and everytime the DVD gets dark the LCD turns down the brightness and every time the DVD gets bright the brightness goes back up. Light sensor is off but that wouldn't be the problem because the LCD adjusts the brightness based upon the brightness of the DVD. Any ideas? It's really annoying. 7/8/2009 10:57:22 PM |

Disable any power saving features or contrast "enhancers" or dynamic contrast modes. 7/9/2009 1:05:39 AM |

possible it could also be the player. many players have black level adjustments or possibly another quirky thing like that. 7/9/2009 5:02:25 AM |

common feature on the bravia known as the "autodim". go into the settings and check your firmware version...
sony released an updated firmware last month that helps this out. i'd suggest going to sony's website, entering the model of the TV and checking the updated firmware.
i did this with my 52v5100 and it worked. 7/9/2009 8:11:15 AM |

^^^As far as i can tell everything is disabled under the settings that would have anything to do with automatic adjustments. It's so weird though because it gets darker when the DVD got darker, and back to normal when the DVD went light.
^^We were playing a DVD on my HTPC which i've been using for a while and never noticed that type of problem, which made me think it was the tv.
^We're going to try updating the firmware and see what happens. 7/9/2009 1:41:57 PM |
