If I were rather loudly eating a bagel right behind your head right at your ear, how would you react?

Understandable! But even if we discount my objections, you'd have better luck swimming to the moon.

In front of me. Behind is very threatening. Someone might pick it up and bash me with it, or I might step back and inadvertently trip on it.

If you started up suddenly, I'd probably ask you to stop.

If it happened in steps, though, I'd probably endure it. Like, if you sat near me, someone brought you a bagel, and you started eating it increasingly loudly while scooting closer to my ear, I might not say anything at all.

That kind of behavior is probably what enabled the Holocaust.

Fermat asked:

Good question! I love Raleigh, but to be honest, I haven't traveled much or really lived in many places. I think Richmond's architecture is very cool. Chicago appealed to a part of me that has always been fascinated by urban life. My mom says I'd probably love Boston and encourages me to go if I ever get the least excuse.

Dunno. The more interesting question is why did I stop?

Nerdchick asked:

I like Kevin Conroy's Batman. He has voiced Batman in pretty much every animated series and film since Batman: The Animated Series with the notable exception of the series The Batman.

I like him so much because his performance is very flexible. He can deliver an extremely grim, gravelly tone when Batman needs to be menacing, yet he can also do paternal affection and warmth with Robin. Best of all, there's just something about his voice that really works for Batman's sense of humor, too, and I think that's an underrated aspect of the character. Cool question! Who's your favorite?

Still plugging away. My responsibilities have changed a bit, which makes my job more interesting. If only my salary would catch up!

Looking back at my posting history, I slacked off around the time I proposed to Sonia. We got busy with wedding preparations, merging our finances, and all that other kind of household stuff. I guess I just fell off the wagon or whatever. The Wolf Web fell out of my Internet rotation. I started playing more games with my roleplaying group, blah blah blah.

Hm. Maybe that wasn't a more interesting question.

Actually, my charge was dismissed in August of 2007, though I didn't find out until February of 2008. I made a thread about it, which is admittedly cryptic now that the image is missing: message_topic.aspx?topic=514512

I don't think the Wolf Web is dead by any means, but the original community and spirit that I found when I joined is definitely dead. That was unavoidable. The Wolf Web experience is largely created by its active users and the ways they choose to interact (or not interact) with each other. People graduate, move away, or just stop posting, and the experience changes. The mood shifts, sometimes gradually, sometimes cataclysmically.

I don't recognize much of the experience now. The active users are mostly people I've never met and never will meet. I don't have as much in common with the target audience anymore, for better or worse. And I certainly don't get the same things out of posting as I used to. There was a time when I could depend on the Wolf Web for a lead on a party, a partner for lunch, or a last-minute ride. I need those things less now, and the site is less able to provide them for me at any rate.

But the Wolf Web persists. I think it'd be better if things were refreshed, though. An active School Tool, a more proactive and social base of regular posters, blah blah blah. But there's no sense in trying to rebuild Babylon. I got a lot out of my Wolf Web, and I just hope this Wolf Web's users can say the same seven or eight years from now.

Well, we do have separate checking accounts, but we can see each other's. We don't really use 'em, and we barely keep any money in 'em. We have our fun together for the most part anyway.

Yeah, but when I want to surprise my woman with a gift, I don't want it showing up on our joint account. Takes away the SURPRISE!!!! OMGOMGOMG aspect of it.

We have separate credit cards from before we started dating, so surprises are pretty well covered that way.
