I'm on Verizon. This is my first smartphone.
Tour will cost me $99 If I want it to sync with the groupwise email and calendar at NCSU I have to pay $200 + a yrly service charge ($ not determined yet) + I'd HAVE to get the high-end data plan since it's a Blackberry Exchange Server. That being said, I currently have all of email forwarded to Gmail and haven't started using the groupwise calendar. Though it has some features I like, I could still use the Tour w/o syncing with groupwise.
The Ozone will be free. And since it's a windows mobile phone, will be able to sync with the NCSU groupwise mobile server at no additional cost to me.
I have the following: groupwise email/calendar/im. Gmail/calendar/googletalk and a jabber im account.
My google stuff (minus google talk) is a must. But I'd like to be able to use all of those from the phone if possible. I'd like to use Gmail as the main email account on the device, and I'm not sure about the calendar yet. I currently use the google calendar A LOT. But the groupwise calendar has some good features as far as work goes.
I know google can sync with the Ozone b/c it's a windows mobile device. But what about the Tour? I see there are ways to have gmail push to a blackberry, but what about the calendar? If it won't work with the native calendar, is there an app. that it will sync with and provide alerts and what not?
Is it possible to have more than one calendar sync to the calendar on either of those devices? Is it possible for items to come to the device, but not up to the server? Point being, I don't care if work appointments show on my personal calendar, but i'd prefer my personal stuff to not show on my work calendar (not on the server at least).
Is there anything I'd really be missing by going with the Ozone over the Tour?
As far as what I know about the phones, the only thing I dislike about the ozone is that it has a 2mp camera. The Tour has a 3.2. Beyond that, I like the keyboard on the HTC better, and I like the navigation buttons on it a little better than the roller on the Tour.
General thoughts?
