Nic Cage in talks for 'Green Hornet'
Cameron Diaz negotiating for love interest role

Quote :
"Columbia Pictures is in early talks with Nicolas Cage to play the gangster villain in 'The Green Hornet.'

Cameron Diaz is negotiating to play a reporter and love interest in the Michel Gondry-directed pic that stars Seth Rogen as the masked crime fighter.

The picture is moving full steam ahead for a fall start date, even as the studio looks to replace Stephen Chow, who was going to play sidekick Kato. Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script and Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Films banner.

The picture is set for release next summer.

Cage just completed 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' and remake 'The Bad Lieutenant.' Diaz is booked to star with Tom Cruise in the untitled James Mangold-directed action comedy that had formerly been titled 'Wichita,' for 20th Century Fox."

This has been in production for a couple of years, not counting forever ago when Kevin Smith wrote the original script. Most people thought it was dead until Rogen came out yesterday and said, "WE'RE BUILDING SETS WE JUST NEED A KATO."

fuck more serious takes, we've had enough dark superhero films to last a little while.

I was expecting a less conventional take on superhero movies from Gondry, but maybe they just cut the trailer to look like your average superhero flick to get a wider audience interested in seeing it.

I think Iron Man and Iron Man 2 have balanced the line between seriousness and fun quite perfectly.

I suppose I should have phrased my comments that I expected a more serious tone from Seth Rogen, i dunno...this movie has already gone through eleventy billion transformations

Based on the trailer, I thought it was a parody of superhero films until I realized that it was a real franchise near the end.

he's a character from the 1930's... the old radio shows were essentially superhero crossed with hard-boiled detective drama

he's also the great-grandnephew of the lone ranger, tho that really doesn't play too much in it

movie was much better than expected. A great matinee, imo. Entertaining, just dont take it too seriously, and you should enjoy it.

saw it tonight- it was good. Of course, very outrageous, and I had to turn my normal "how/why the fuck is this happening" filter off, but I was fully entertained!

and Christoph Waltz continues to be a sadistically humorous villain- badass!

This movie reaffirmed my hatred of Seth Rogen. Does he ever play a likeable character? I mean the main character of a movie is supposed to be a character people can relate to and who is generally likable. His characters in this, as well as every other movie (like "knocked up" and the mall cop movie) are just jerk assholes.

Rogen isn't your typical superhero but the movie isn't terrible

pretty cool action scenes and some cool 007 Q-type gadgets

Wait critics hated it?
I'm surprised. I saw it last week at the dollar fifty theater, and thought it was great. I wish I had seen it sooner.
