HSV1 and HSV2 can both be contracted via the mouth or the genitals (or even the eye) where the mucosal membranes are...each has a site of preference (a ganglion that it is particularly suited to), which is why we generally say HSV1 is a "cold sore" and HSV2 is genital herpes (the "bad" kind)

the truth is that they both operate the same way and can be really bad...or a person may never show symptoms...IN GENERAL, HSV1 contracted genitally doesn't show up as often or as severely as HSV2 contracted genitally, just like HSV2 contracted orally GENERALLY doesn't show up as often or as severely as HSV1 contracted orally

the ganglion preferred by the HSV2 is near the spine base (i think) and the ganglion preferred by HSV1 is near the ear (again, i think)...when one form inhabits the non-preferred ganglion, it GENERALLY doesn't become active as easily or as often (don't get me wrong...i'm sure there are people out there with really bad outbreaks of one form in its non-preferred area)...you can actually contract both types, but you GENERALLY won't contract both types if you already have one (especially if it's already set in a location...for example, if you have HSV1 genitally, there is LESS chance of contracting HSV2 genitally, though you can contract it orally just as easily...i think)

part of the reason HSV2 is seen as "worse" than HSV1 is 1.) social stigma, and 2.) evidence suggests that HSV2 is more contagious during shedding (not necessarily when there are symptoms) than HSV1 is

HSV is seen as pretty bad in general because it's almost impossible to get rid of it...someone correct me if i'm wrong (i might have some the details wrong), but when the virus goes dormant, it's essentially invisible (the way you test for herpes is by checking for blood antibodies, not the virus itself)...in order to kill of the virus, you would need to the virus to become active in its entirety (not just that which is active, but that which is dormant, too) and then kill it...that would mean a giant outbreak while the virus is killed before it can go dormant again...IIRC, duke is very close to developing a drug for this

I think what he's talking about is the experimental treatment I went through for HHV6, which it turns out I didn't even have an active case of. HHV6 causes childhood roseola, and can sometimes cause chronic fatigue syndrome later in life. Serologic testing reveals that more than 95% of the world's population is positive for antibodies to HHV-6. Not exactly a big deal to have antibodies for.

For the record, they banned me from nc sportbikes for calling them out for being a bunch of closed minded chest thumping idiots afraid of anyone that does not share their own sexual orientation. I am proud to have been banned for that. Life is too short to spend it around closed minded idiots afraid of diversity.

ALkatraz, the styrofoam is what absorbs the imoact when you fall off the bike. It prevents brain damage. I see you have obviously reused a motorcycle helmet and are now suffering the consequences.
