My girlfriend took one in DC and said it was both fun and corny as hell. 8/10/2009 8:07:21 PM |

My gf took one in CHicago and said it was a lot of fun. The guide however was more skilled and went over some curbs that they shouldn't had and she wiped out at least twice. 8/10/2009 8:11:56 PM |

I've been on tours in Raleigh and Minneapolis.
Both were fun, but I liked the Raleigh one better. 8/10/2009 8:44:15 PM |

Saw about 4 or 5 people on a segway tour at the Capitol building in DC. Personally, I'd opt for a bit of exercise. 8/10/2009 8:56:31 PM |

I've been on it twice. Mostly because when somebody visits it's a fun thing to do, they tell you some very interesting things about Raleigh, and Segways are awesome to ride around on. 8/10/2009 9:00:28 PM |

Actually, you work your legs pretty well on a Segway--shifting your weight back and forth in different directions reintroduces those muscles you forgot you had
don't plan on doing any heavy walking afterwards8/10/2009 9:04:44 PM |

What ^^ said, plus...
The Raleigh tour group was smaller, which I liked. The Minneapolis tour was larger and more 'commercial' (though still enjoyable).
^^^^ Most of the time I'd agree with you. We had limited free time in Minneapolis (hours), and the tour was a great way to see more than we could on foot.

we took a segway tour in Sarasota. I thought it was going to be the lamest and dorkiest tour ever. We would've never done it on our own if it wasn't a Christmas present from my in laws. It was the dorkiest, oh yes, but it was so much fun. If you've never ridden a segway before, it's really cool. It becomes just an extension of your body, and it gets to the point you don't even notice your lean to propel yourself forward. You just kind of think about it and off you go.
The one thing we wish we could've had was more freedom on the tour. We were much more comfortable with the segway than others, and we wanted to go faster. Our tour guide noticed our urge to get a move on, and said something to us when we took a break, but there wasn't anything he could do. Gotta stick together and all that for liability reasons.
anywho...we would definitely do a segway tour again in another city. It was a lot of fun!
HIGH FIVE!!! SEGWAY!
