We stock syrups from Da Vinci, Torani, and Monin. There are differences in the selection of flavors available among those product lines. I frequently review the differences with customers. Da Vinci, for instance, has an exclusive licensing deal that means they are the only manufacturer of Kahlua syrup. Torani makes a Cherry Lime that the others don't have. You get the idea.

One customer was having a particularly hard time of it, so we were going through flavor by flavor to figure out which ones he needed to stock.

"What about English Toffee?" he asked.

"Da Vinci and Torani make English Toffee, but Monin is a little weird," I said. "They're a French company, so they don't like giving the English credit for anything. They call their equivalent 'Toffee Nut.'"

"Huh," he said. "So Monin doesn't have an English Toffee, per se. But do the other guys have Toffee Nut?"

"No," I told him. "That's only in the Monin."

i should make a thread with a .gif of keys jingling on a keychain. i'm sure it'd be met with many HAHAHA's or ULTRA LULZ.

My first poet in this thread was just bustin balls.

my second post was just me being depressed at how blown out of proportion people's internet language is.

frosh you said it was mildly amusing. and it was. and its not like you're incapable of very amusing (obvi-"largeeddy ate my balls"). I just hate LULZ or HAHAHA being typed, when one can pretty much guarantee that the people typing it didnt "laugh out loud" or "big letters guffaw" at their keyboard.

I like how bumping a thread that advertises a "mildly amusing anecdote" implies that I think it's "that funny," whatever the degree of "that" is.

Oh this is old

I was thinking this motherfucker was a 40 year old barista.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I guess.

Haha, Shawna. I thought the same thing at first. I reckon he was around 32 when he barista'd.

I've never worked as a barista. I worked for a coffee roaster with a sideline in espresso equipment sales and specialty drink ingredient wholesaling. The conversation took place with a coffeeshop owner who was placing a supply order. I was 28.

Well, it's the Italian word for bartender. The singular form is barista, masculine and feminine. They differ in the plural form: masculine baristi, feminine bariste.
