Does anyone know someone who knowledgeable with police scanner...
If I brought a Uniden BCD996XT ( I believe the most expensive that was quickly searched)
would it be able to do 9600 bog 800 Trunking digital apco c-25 compatible
This is for somebody.. I don't nothing about this stuff and don't really want to figure it out. Is there something cheaper but still good? 8/15/2009 9:08:33 PM |

what are you talking about? 9600 baud? as in for the control channel? yes yes yes
and it's apco p25 that implies digital, btw.
everything public safety related in wake county is 800mhz p25 (moto ii smartnet)] 8/17/2009 12:01:03 PM |

baud would definitely make more sense. He wrote this down on paper and gave it to me. Could barely find anything about bog related with scanner (anything that made sense) p 25 is seeable. Couldn't read that part of the hand writing. Yeah this is for Cleveland county and all the people I know who have scanners are in Lincoln county which is still analog...
I hope this doesn't turn out too hard. Don't really want to spend too much time learning this stuff to help him.
thanks for the help

i've been trying to get rid of this thing:
This scanner can pick up 800-900 Mhz. I think it was orginally made for canada.
This one has been modded for cellphone coverage. Clip a diode and bang Cellphone coverage.
I've had a few problems with it as of late. It'll run fine for a minute or two then just randomly cut off, no idea whats wrong with it. 8/18/2009 8:27:09 AM |

shouldn't be too hard. i'm not really into scanners that much, i prefer my xts5000
check out radioreference.com, they have all the talkgroups and whatnot for wake county, at least.
and wdprice3, if you get a scanner, i'll be glad to help you program it. 8/18/2009 2:21:59 PM |

get you a BCD396T, son. if i were getting one, that's what i'd pick up.
it does p25 trunktracking, fire toneouts, etc.
it's better than getting a base unit because you can just get the BC-RH96 and turn it into a base if you so desire. 8/18/2009 4:40:18 PM |
