My LCD tv, Samsung, just developed a strip of blue a couple pixels wide. It is located about 1/3 of the way from the right side of the TV. It runs vertically starting from an inch down from the top and continues to the bottom of the screen.
I noticed it 30-45 mins ago but not beforehand. I was just surfing on the internet, no games or TV.
Any idea what caused this? More so, any ideas to fix this? My warranty expired a month ago. 8/23/2009 8:02:25 PM |

My tv experienced a similar problem. It sporadically happened for a couple days before I returned the tv. 8/24/2009 1:29:56 PM |

i think i've had similar problems with multiple TVs before, usually unplugging them out of the wall fixes it 8/24/2009 6:18:39 PM |

Happens to LCDs and Plasmas for a variety of reasons, usually a sign that the panel itself (ie not the hardware/software that controls it) is on it's way crapping out.

I'd call them and let them know it happened because they might fix it or already be aware of a problem. The Mitsubishi thread from those results (like 5th result) talks about how Mitsubishi extended the warranty on certain models because of this very problem (which could start intermittently and become permanent line(s) over time). 8/25/2009 1:45:25 PM |

Could be moisture. Is your panel moist often?
More seriously, do you wipe it down with anything? I just use a large glass cleaning cloth to wipe the dust off mine because I had issues with one after using some LCD wipes on it; the liquid in the wipes was apparently getting through the edges of the screen since there were gaps there due to defects. 8/25/2009 3:16:47 PM |

I unplugged it for a while and let it site with the power off of it. It was still there until i watched a video on gametrailers.com. It went away after that.
It's not moist often, I clean it once every two weeks or so. I got LCD screen cleaner and use a microfiber towel. 8/28/2009 1:15:42 PM |

Well if it is there then goes away every time you leave it sitting there then turn it on it's probably a barely loose connection on a ribbon cable inside the screen.
If it just did that once and never comes back it was probably moisture that evaporated after the screen warmed up. 8/30/2009 2:37:10 AM |
