Locally I have won a lot all from G105

usually its tix to movies, did win stupid shit like an autographed Mandy Moore poster and CD, tix to B. Spear, couple DVDs ( Italian Job, Ladder 49), few CD last one was the No Doubt anthology along with other random ones usually sound tracks to movies and lastly a couple tshirts.

ya i was about 10years old too, i called into KJO 105 in St Joseph MO to play the definition game and won. I forget what the word was, but I won free tacos at taco johns. I lived an hour away and was 10 so I just told the guy it was cool and to keep them, I was just having fun playing the game. The guy responded, 'wow, thanks dave, ur alright'

I won a contest back in 2000 in Utica, NY (upstate NY). Can't remember the radio station.

Prize was "come to our station and select as many CDs as you like". The section/room I was allowed to choose from had like 3 or 4 CDs that I could possibly like.

when i was in 9th grade and did drivers ed my instructor told me this random fact about peeling labels off of bottles.

we had some 2hr delay due to weather and the chump change question was this same fact. I answered and won the change. 34.28

the way they did chump change was each day they'd bring in their pocket change and put it in the jar and ask a question. if no one got it they'd add change to it the next day. and so it built.

I was driving to Hillsborough one day and listening to the duke radio station when the dj announced that she had a bunch of free tickets to see some fat wreck chords bands at The Cat's Cradle that night. I know No Use For a Name was there, but I can't remember who else. 20 minutes later when I got to my destination I called her up and sure enough there were still plenty of guest list spots. I put myself +1 and a friend +1 on there. Only three of us ended up going and it was sold out with a huge crowd of people outside wanting to get in. They gave me the extra ticket which I threw out the front door and a bunch of people started wrestling for it.

Yep. she met Ricky Martin when he was like 13. They flew her and my dad out to California, gave them passes to Universal Studios, got to hang with Menudo for the day, then went to their concert.

When I was 15, 16, or something like that (under 18 is the point), I won free mountain climbing lessons from WEND 106.5 FM in Charlotte.

I was riding home from Emerald Pointe with my friend Carmine's family, and this contest came on the radio. It was a segment called Dramatic Reading, where the dumbass "personality" DJ Wilson would read out song lyrics in a horrible British accent. If you called in and correctly identified the song, you won the prize.

I knew right off the bat that he was reading "Wonderwall" by Oasis but didn't care to call in. We listened as moron after moron called in to guess wrong, and I got pretty fed up with it. Carmine's mom said I should call in and told me to use her car phone (as this was back in the day before ubiquitous cell phones). So I called, I answered, it was great. We cheered. The dudes at the station took my info, whatever.

UNFORTUNATELY

When they found out I was under 18, they told me that they couldn't actually award the main prize, but they'd send me some other stuff instead. I asked what, and they couldn't tell me. Still, it was a prize worth a couple hundred bucks easily, right? I expected something decent.

WRONG

Those motherfuckers sent me a fucking long-sleeved T-shirt, and it wasn't even a 106.5 shirt. It was for fucking Sunkist orange soda. That was IT.

i also qualified for the QDR condo at davis drive last summer.

i went to the apt complex one saturday morning on a whim and they were drawing names to qualify for the grand prize condo. They picked my name out of the box, so I qualified for the grand prize and got a $50 target giftcard.

at the reverse raffle for the condo, I got eliminated pretty quick so now i have to pay rent.

this wasn't a radio thing, but one time i called into that monkey time show on the public access channel. i was pretty blazed and he was playing some bunny wailer so i was just chillin listening to it and later in the show he had said whoever called in and identified the song would get a copy of the "i'm not here" DVD (that weird bob dylan inspired movie), so i was like sweet, i got this one in the bag and called up and tried to get myself all composed because i was still pretty high from smoking earlier. then i soon realized that it was a replay of a previous show and i had called for nothing. i don't remember who picked up the phone, but i was totally lost

my sister won a trip for 2 to LA for an american idol show from kiss 95.1 here in charlotte. dont think it was the finale but it was somewhere toward the end of the season. they were there for about a day.
