any update on whether they are offering 3g in cary now for sure? 12/5/2009 7:07:22 PM |

I have t mo 3G in Cary, for a few months now.
T mobile has been turning on some 3g cities to 7.2... blazing fast. Hopefully here soon.
I will say my g1 was plenty fast on edge. I saw improvement with 3g, but edge was very decent on the g1. 12/5/2009 9:26:26 PM |

You should def do that. The unlimied plans are pretty awesome.
I would wait till jan though because of some rumors of the Passion coming to t mo (and the iPhone but who cares about that)

i've already got an iphone and my contract with at&t is up in jan.. i unlocked it earlier without any issues. SO, i should be able to just pop a t-mobile sim card in and be good to go 12/6/2009 9:56:24 AM |

SO, i'm looking at the plans on their website. the two options i'm interested in are the 39.99 for 500 minutes/unlimited texting and the 59.99 for 500 minutes and unlimited text & unlimited web
i can add unlimited web for $10 to the 39.99 one and it obviously comes out to 49.99. is there any difference besides web between the 39.99 and 59.99 one? doesn't make sense that it would be $20 difference in plans if it's only a $10 feature.
anything i'm missing here?

I'm not too sure about the iphone but most phones when you unlock it this just means that you are able to use the phone for other companies but this only means if your phone's radio has the capacity to receive the frequency. I know the iphone is quad band so talking/texting and EDGE would be good. But I highly doubt 3G on the iPhone with T-mobile is possible without looking it up as with most unlocked phone this is true as it uses a different freq. 12/6/2009 11:35:32 AM |

yea just found that out.. 3g won't work but honestly don't care that much. i have wifi at home/work to use and 95+% of the area inbetween doesn't have 3g anyways
also, it looks like i'd have to get the $25 data plan at the very least..some ppl have gotten the $10 one to work but they seem to be old customers..new ones aren't working. still doing research though

I had Edge for about 9 months before we turned 3G and never had an issue browsing html sites or downloading roms/themes for my phone. Not sure why you felt it was so slow... MAYBE since my phone is rooted the developers have done something to help the speeds.
the build.prop file I know you can edit and depending on what towers you are connected to some people have seen down and up speeds almost 4x as fast. There is a good thread on the XDA development forum to show which files to mod for this. If you have root I would strongly encourage it, some of the speeds people are reporting are crazy fast.
I'm ready for raleigh to be 7.2.... and eventually 21 12/7/2009 11:11:27 AM |
