Its from California, City of Monterey. It was a rental car and they found me through Hertz. Parked in a grocery store parking lot to long to go to an aquarium.

It depends on who issues the ticket and whether they report. My guess is if they took the trouble to find you through Hertz, you better pay it...

effect...idk

affect...i'm not sure, but if at all possible, yes

in other news, the city issues tickets for parking in a grocery store lot? wouldn't parking enforcement in a store parking lot be up to the store?

It may be a public lot. Or they could contract with the city for enforcement. Or the center could have called the city to come write tickets.

I feel like if you don't pay it, they'll eventually sell the debt to some company that specializes in collecting yo' shit. Then it'll definitely affect your credit.

the only reason i paid the last parking ticket i got was b.c i plan on living in wilmington a few more years and don't want the city putting a boot on my car a year from now when i park in a public spot again.

My sister tried to ignore a parking ticket from NJ two years ago. She recently got a letter from a collection agency saying she had to pay it or else it would go on her credit report.

All for a $25 ticket.

Well that collection agency deserves a Gold Star since they managed to shake that $25 out of your sister. If they would have called and threatened to call "Social Services" to take her kid away or threatened to repossess her dog, unless she pays the fine plus a $25 "service fee" I am sure she would have coughed up $50.

I highly doubt anything would have gotten put on her credit report. Collection agencies are not known for their honest practices in order to collect the fees due. Essentially they are legalized extortionists.

I got a $115 parking ticket 1 1/2 years ago in NYC for double parking (interesting, since I was in the car with the engine running in gear while there were in fact, plenty of unoccupied double parked cars around that the bitch of a traffic cop did NOT ticket ).

I never paid it.

I got one in Beverly Hills on a rental car and they tracked that shit down.

Guess they're willing to spend the manpower tracking it down to get every penny.

there was another thread like this just recently.

SO...FYI. they can do many a things...one being have your license revoked. another being taking the money owed to them from your taxes or bank account. a third being a mark on your credit score.

it's your call. and while they may not do anything now, the fact they've tracked you down to this point would lead me to believe they will do one of the three things above to make you pay.
