Has anyone else seen this show? If you can mistake having a bowel movement for giving birth, maybe you need to eat some more fiber. 10/6/2009 9:17:03 PM |

Having had a child, you have to be a complete moron or in some serious to have been pregnant and to not know it. I even know someone who was 7+ months pregnant before they knew about it and I still don't understand it.
And the weight gain aside, babies MOVE. What in the hell do you think it is in there?

but on this show, and i know we've talked about it before, there have been 110lb women who have not known.
i mean wtf. 10/6/2009 9:21:40 PM |

Yeah. The weight thing doesn't bother me. At 9 months pregnant, I weighed 20 lbs less than I did when I got pregnant and I was still wearing the same old clothes.
It's all the other pregnancy symptoms that these people ignore that I don't get.

Yea..... Not quite sure about the people on the show.
Only way I could understand you not realizing it is if you have a very VERY irregular cycle, and you don't have the whole morning sickness issue in the first trimester.
Beyond that - no clue 10/6/2009 9:23:00 PM |

I really don't get this at all. How unaware of your own body are you to not realize what is going on?
I remember I worked with a chick in high school that was getting fatter and fatter in her tummy region. We finally asked her if she was pregnant and she freaked out and went to the doctor. Turned out to be a 40-pound tumor in her abdomen 10/6/2009 9:23:46 PM |

i just don't get how someone who weights 110lbs doesn't know. surely their body has to change. i mean they don't give birth to 4lb babies so what is the deal?
and if i was throwing up or i didn't have a period for like 8 months, i'd be like well shit should probably call the doctor 10/6/2009 9:24:30 PM |

i guess i can't talk because i've never been pregnant (like a lot of women on this show) but i mean, honestly when i throw up (not from drinking) the first thing that goes through my mind is "holy shit please don't let me be pregnant"
i guess i'm just paranoid 10/6/2009 9:27:54 PM |

Im talking to a guy right now that has a cousin that just had a baby and had no idea she was pregnant. No morning sickness, never felt the baby move, had her period the entire 9 months. Told her mom the day she gave birth her "period cramps" were really bad. Took her to the hospital, the drs didnt realize at first she was pregnant. Did a pelvic eval on her and said she had a tampon stuck in her and that's where her pain was coming from. Dr got the forceps out and realized a few seconds later it was the babys head. Several pushes later she had a full term baby girl. 10/6/2009 10:07:32 PM |

This happened to my second cousins wife. She had a baby nine months prior and had a regular period, no cravings, no breast tenderness, no extra weight gain, couldn't feel any movement in that area... She woke up one night with severe pain and thought it was a bad stomach ache. She saw all the blood, turned around to vomit, Gary walked in, and the baby was crowning. The baby was born on the bathroom floor.
She said she honestly had no idea and everything was normal : / until then of course! 10/6/2009 11:20:08 PM |

We, my wife and I, have a friend who doesn't feel contractions, literally has no labor pain at all... Now she's a small person, and seems to get all the other typical signs of pregnancy normally... So I guess it's theoretically possible
When she dropped the line (while my wife was in labor) "It's okay, you don't need those painkillers!" after the wife's epidural quit working...
Let's just say, we were not amused.

i have a friend whose girlfriend at the time (now wife) didn't know she was pregnant for 5 months. she had her period and everything was normal and she happened to have her gyno appointment in that time and found out that way.
similar story with my mom in fact. She weighs between 105 and 115 at any given time and didn't know until about month 5 or 6.
happens more often than people think. 10/7/2009 9:37:20 AM |

In my opinion, not knowing for several months is very different from not knowing until you give birth. Before pregnancy tests, I imagine that it wasn't too uncommon not to know until after the first trimester. 10/7/2009 10:27:44 AM |

right. i mean its def possible for people not to know for several months. but a lot of times on this show they don't know until they are giving or AFTER they have given birth.
the one i watched last night the girl didn't know until after her baby was in the toilet and she stood up from going poo poo and was attached to the toilet by the umbilical cord. 10/7/2009 10:29:17 AM |

the one that freaks me out the most on this show is the girl who never showed b/c the baby sat more towards her back instead of her front.
i mean she was a 125-130lb chick, losing weight during her pregnancy, had spotting so she didn't think anything of it, and had NO clue. iirc she was the one that gave birth a few days before her wedding. 10/7/2009 10:32:30 AM |

I think I would be more inclined to believe the person honestly didn't know if they had already had kids. Leanne (see my story above) already had two kids prior and went through all the normal symptoms. She's really tall and had already had extra weight from the baby before that so maybe she really didn't show. My cousin didn't even notice it.. I would think the husband would notice if his wife is showing, ya know?
I guess I'm not that shocked by it if they don't exhibit any signs. I mean, the body does strange things - there have been many cases of women going into "labor" that weren't even pregnant. I actually did a long research paper on that subject for my class last semester and everyone was all "how do you not know you're NOT pregnant?!" But that shit happens more than you'd think. 10/7/2009 1:15:29 PM |

If we accept that there are symptoms that are average and follow a bell curve pattern, then women on one extreme would not experience them or experience them lightly and on the on side, the women would over-experience those symptoms.
It's statistics! 10/7/2009 1:24:50 PM |

like some of these i KIND OF understand. and some i understand totally.
but the ones where the girls are like "yeaaa i got really bad cramps and i had skipped my birth control" or "i skipped my BC and didn't have my period i just thought it was stress"
i mean really. if i feel sick to my stomach i'm always like "OMG i'm probably pregnant becaus ei don't take my BC at the same time everyday"
i just don't get these people! 10/13/2009 9:34:08 PM |
