I offered what I was willing to pay for it in cash. You never know his motivation. I am in commercial real estate. Given the economy, I can't tell you how many buildings I've seen/sold that were listed for $900K and sold for $400-500K.

Bottom line, you don't know how motivated he is. If it was taking a hit for $12,500 and coming out $2,500 ahead versus having the bank repossess the car and yield $0 to the seller, he may consider selling.

Again, if you are selling luxury items, you can't expect a full value offer on TDub.
