I am looking for some kind of freeware that will convert mp3s and strip the DRM
I was using wmaconvert but the version I bought 3 years ago cannot be installed on my new computer. Any suggestions would help. Thanks! 10/22/2009 6:10:53 PM |

IIRC, if you're on wmp11 you're screwed, but that was 6-months ago last time i looked. 10/22/2009 6:29:32 PM |

what do you mean?
I am simply trying to take some mp3s (that I PAID FOR) and create an MP3 cd (about 180 songs or so) that my CD player can read. It can't read ITunes or DRM restricted mp3s. 10/22/2009 6:34:36 PM |

Alright, to begin with ... all DRM is different, so stop it with the blanket term.
So tell us the store you bought the DRM MP3s from and we can find you a tool to remove the DRM. 10/22/2009 6:36:27 PM |

usually DRM protected files means Apple's Fairplay or Windows PlaysForSure schema, and if it's wma/wmv you need WMP along with the DRM ripping software from what i remember, hence my comment, the higher the version the less likely it will work, and last i checked if you're using WMP11 there wasn't an option to remove DRM since you can't roll WMP11 back

WMAConvert is a powerful piece of software to convert almost any audio and video files, both protected and non-protected, to commonly used formats such as MP3, AAC, WAV audio, MPEG4, DivX video. WMAConvert unprotects and converts songs and videos for use with any audio and video playing devices: iPod, iPhone, Zune, any portable HDD and Flash MP3, MP4 players (Sony, iriver, SanDisk, Creative, Cowon, Samsung, Philips and many others), home DVD players, CD players, car audio and video, mobile phones etc.
This is what I used. I just assumed that Napster mp3s were protected (which I am fairly certain they are).
I actually just found this as you posted this. I am attempting to try it now

havent you already posted a thread about this?
MP3's dont have DRM. MP3 is an open format. Perhaps you mean convert wma to mp3... but who knows. 10/22/2009 8:27:53 PM |
