The closest is just white trash in general. They're fans of the hip hop/rock group Insane Clown Posse and other bands on the Psychopathic Records label. Probably five or six years ago, Blender magazine called ICP the worst band in existence, but they still manage to appeal to a huge fanbase among trailer trash kids in the Midwestern US.

I'm so glad you posted that vinylbandit. If there's a case to say that Andrew W.K. is actually a cool guy (and I honestly think he is), it's that he fucking hardcore trolled the Gathering of the Juggalos. Just watch that goddamn video, it's classic. If there's something I can get behind it's hating on some juggalos.

a child-sized casket is heartbreaking even if the parents are self-chosen subhumans (who don't even have the damn decency to look just a little bit presentable for their kid's funeral).


and ICP has 2-3 good songs (as in "fun to listen to", not "I respect this as art or a display of any sort of talent"). Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.



With those 2 caveats out of the way, I am 100% behind hating on anything related to this douchebaggery in any way.

What in the world was Andrew WK even doing? He doesn't make it sound like he was trolling... In an interview with pitchfork, he acts like he thought they loved him.... (???)

I think when people were launching bottle rockets and large boulders, they decided that for my own welfare-- and the welfare of the insurance company-- that it was best to stop. That was really wild. I didn't realize it during the show, but I have to take their word for it that it was. Afterward, the next day, I realized I was covered in bruises. I didn't feel anything like that happening during the show. Once I start playing-- I'm sure many people relate to this-- I go into a place that's so driven by adrenaline and by the music that there's a superhuman state that you're in-- not necessarily above human, but definitely using all your resources. It's a very athletic, physical place to be. I wasn't processing everything that was happening."
