Ok, Hate is a strong word, but the Other thread inspired me. I'm an NC State fan for life, but at a few years from 30, I've seen Pack players come and go.

I wasn't always a fan of them all.

Post your least favorite NC State players since you followed the team.

Who made your cringe when they touched the ball? Who was a human low light film?

I'll start. I wasn't a fan of Bryant Feggins in the early 90's. Very little effort, a fouling machine, and had numerous run in's with the law. Couldn't stand him and was thrilled when he left.

COACHES AND FOWLER DON'T COUNT.

^ um... hauskha is a starter in the NFL... and that other guy with the handicapped dad was pretty solid...

1) Archie was pretty painful to watch and a wigger

2) Evtimov, this one was more Herb's fault for playing him even when he was getting dominated in matchups

3) Ferguson, this guy was just brutal and he got major minutes for some reason

4) Stone, probably the worst D1 QB Ive ever seen. He once had a string of 5 games where in four of them he had only one completion at halftime.

5) That idiot who fumbled against UNC in 2001 then quit the team like a week later. Fuck that guy.

You are dumb as shit. Marc Primanti won the fucking Lou Groza Award in 1996.

Quote :
"In the 1996 North Carolina State Media Guide, Marc Primanti was quoted as saying, “My job is to make every kick, and I want to do just that.” Primanti did exactly that, making all 20 field goals and 24 extra points that he attempted. This resulted in Primanti being a rather easy choice to receive the Lou Groza Award. Primanti made nine field goals longer than 40 yards, including a 48-yarder against Alabama that was a season-long. He also set an ACC record by making 27 consecutive field goals, stretching back into 1995. After walking onto the Wolfpack team and not playing a down during his first three years in the program, he more than made up for lost time."

27 consecutive FGs.

Also Deraney and Hauschka have been pretty damn good. You have an awful memory. Hell Kent Passingham wasn't even bad. Kiker pissed two PATs that killed his image but he was fairly accurate.

meh, we have been up and down at kicker, a positiion i want to not think about

having a great kicker is awesome, but it should not be what wins games.

i am thinking more about 1998

i sure enjoyed having a team that beat F$U and Syracuse, and a team that lost to Baylor

there is no excuse from going from all star to shit - we can't kick it past the 9.

This has cost us games. Our defense needs an extra 10 or 15 yards help...

(not that it will help)

I know I am gonna get a lot of hate here, but I have lived in quite a few places since attending NCSU... Connecticut, New York, Washington, South Carolina, and being a huge football fan, where I went to school always comes up. Typically I get harrassed for our team's pathetic performance which is fine, but I used to think that having Phillip Rivers was kind of our one redeeming quality. I was very surprised to find out how big of a douchebag most of the country thinks he is. I can understand New York, but Connecticut and Seattle have really no reason to harbor any ill will. It really caught me off guard. Anyway I definitely don't hate PR, but I certainly no longer go out of my way to bring him up nor do I view him as our school's redeeming quality in sports (I'll leave that distinction to Dick Vitale.)

^ The media created that image of PR following that Denver game in which he jawed with some fans. That was blown way out of porportion. People who know Philip's character know that he is a hard guy to dislike.

As for my least favorite NC State players:

1. Harrison Beck (hands down)
2. Greg Golden (all talk, very little results - perfect Chuck Amato player)
3. Archie Miller (truly was a wigger and his defense was so bad that the other teams pretty much acted like he wasn't on the floor).
4. Damien Wilkins (selfish)
5. TA (other than his freshman year, he ruined our football team with his injuries and fumbles. How many games did he basically play one or two downs and then go out with some minor injury?)

1) Archie Miller - hate to call the guy out, but I just knew that he'd toss up an airball like I knew Evans or Beck would throw an INT within minutes of being put in the game. To make matters worse I wasn't all that happy when I heard that he'd be coaching. I have no idea whether he was a good coach or a bad coach, but the whole move seemed like a large bone being thrown his way. Clearly not going to make it to the pros? Here's a job.

2) Harrison Beck - Though I hear he's hot stuff at North-north-west Upper East Side State U.

3) TA McLendon - was hard to watch. He was a beast, like the Frankenstein monster. Arm fall off? Just sew on a new one and put him back in. The only problem is that not only would he fumble, he'd fumble in the most inopportune moments.

4) Damien Wilkins - with all the drama that guy brought to the program.

5) Bill Cowher - for not coming back here and fixing all our problems.

Adam Kiker - How he got a scholarship to kick for a D-1 football team is beyond me. Dude regularly missed extra points. It got to where we would go for it on 4th down anywhere inside the 40 because we knew he would miss.

Harrison Beck - Grip it and Rip it. Fucker looked like he was throwing interceptions on purpose

I know a lot of people don't like Golden because he got burned so bad playing defense and he did talk a lot...but he did sacrifice a lot when he agreed to come over and play RB for a little while when we had a lot of injuries at that position. He was originally on my list, but I'll take him off because of that.

This is hard, because other than Harrison Beck (and maybe Wilkins), I just don't like these players because they sucked soooo bad, it was/is frustrating to watch them play, and you just know the team is fucked when they are in the game or the ball is in their hands. I would put Marcus Stone on here too, but like Golden, he put the team in front of himself when he moved to TE his last year.

- Harrison Beck

- Farnold Degand

- Javier Gonzalez

- Kiker

- Damien Wilkins

i find it hard to hate players for state, but there are some who i don't miss very much.

eric leak - couldn't catch a ball if you tossed it to him granny style
harrison beck - this has been covered
damien wilkins - head fake, head fake, head fake, head fake, brick. plus the drama with his dad
koren robinson - did some great things for us but i never had the impression that he cared about the team too much, or really, anything other than getting paid and alcohol. 2 years of him catching fades was good, 3 or 4 would have been better for everyone.
gavin grant and cliff crawford - i ended up liking them but i don't know why it took them each 2 years to figure out that if you get a running start with the ball and leap knees first into a defender, they're going to call an offensive foul

i don't get why people hate TA. he fumbled at some inopportune times, but was a beast at others. all RBs fumble sometimes, but not all of them take games over. the guy fought for yards like no RB i've seen. i don't get why all people remember are the fumbles. remember texas tech? GT? clemson?

Harrison Beck

QB Marcus Stone (TE Marcus Stone was alright)

D-Mo (he doesn't false start, he's just so fast off the blocks that the refs think he does 5 times a game!)

Non-freshman Costner

Turd Ferguson (although he did once call my ex-roommate and his friend "boxing faggots" in the Cookout drive through which was good for a laugh

Jon Holt...for getting those 2 touchdowns in a row called back vs Clemson one year becuase you couldn't line up properly

Edit: I think it was 2004 when we lost by 6

I hate TA....it really has nothing to do with fumbling.

TA was the biggest waste of God-given talent most of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. If he had 1/4 the heart of a Rivers or Thunder Dan, he'd be playing on Sundays right now and would have been one of the all-time greats at NC State. Instead, he never showed up for practice, never went to class, and ended up flunking out of NC State.

Most people hate him becuase he chose to piss away his talent and never worked to get any better. He used to wear a pink jersey in practice becuase he got hurt every other day...therefore he never got better at his fumbling....etc.

Hate is an overly strong word, but I was not terribly fond of:

Damien Wilkins - Family drama, plus lackluster on the court. Got better after transferring to UGA, adding insult to injury.
Jay Davis - He tried, but he just had no arm. After being the "next big thing" post PR, he was such a letdown.
Adam Harrington - Douche with a capital D. Also a giant ball hog, was physically incapable of passing.
Marcus Stone (while he was attempting to play QB) - made a much better TE, I liked him in that position.
Demario Pressley - Mr. Disappointment--remember the fanfare when he chose NCSU in a televised press conference?)

Fuck it, Im'a say it and get flamed for it....

J.J. Hickson.

He (with Sid's blessing) put an immediate halt on the growth of our team.

He wasn't really even THAT good.

And screw it...Costner too. Everyone would hate the Hamburglar too if it wasn't for his freshman year.

Anyone that says him is all kinds of fucked up. Kid was a glorified walk-on who made his way to starter following in his All-American father's dreams. Trust me when I say he wanted to win more than anyone. Hate Beck for obvious reasons but Evans played his heart out man.

Also Kiker wasn't as bad as YOU PEOPLE make him out to be. He was a Groza Semi-finalist.

groza semi-finalist is as meaningless as second place in the acc regular season. kiker missed extra points (inexcusable) and game winning kicks, things that actually affected the fucking games. try watching the games instead of the statistics

gad i dont get people defending evans so much. ok, maybe we shouldnt hate him, but who cares how much he wanted to win? how do you know davis/beck/stone didnt want to win equally bad? they just all sucked.

as for TA, i'm pretty neutral, he won at least as many games as he lost for us and w/out him, we def would not have made that gator bowl which, while not all that significant, is our best accomplishment in the last 20 years. he took us to 9-0, not Rivers. people forget that.

as for krob, fuck you if you hate krob. he did nothing but win games for us and is def top 5-10 talented players we have had in the last 10-15 years (priv, holt, adub,ta,mario, krob, jco, manny, willie, tulloch, not nec in that order if anyone asks) you knock him for leaving early??

as for damian, he just never should have been at nc state. he was a complete mis-fit for sendek's O.

i agree with Panthro's assessment of JJ, as my thread shows, but i dont blame jj, i blame sid

i dont see anyone could NOT hate kiker. of course "pump fake" horner. derek morris. adam harrington.

The usual suspects:

Archie Miller - stupid little wigger
Adam Harrington - fuck that ballhog
Damien Wilkins - because of his family
TA McLendon - made of glass; fumblitis at the worst moments
Greg Golden - Horrible DB, talked too much
Adam Kiker - Anti-clutch
Marcus Stone - Awful, awful QB
Jeremy Hyatt - for being so goddamn ugly
Richard Washington - Talked all that shit and then let the ball bounce off his head against the Buckeyes

AJ Davis-everybody loved this guy, but he got beat on every play
Derek Morris-fighting with coaches on sidelines, false starts
Dennis Horner-hasn't made a 3 pointer since his freshman year, but still throws them up
Deandre Morgan-please make a tackle/play before acting like you are any good.
Hodge-while he was a good player it was frustrating watching him ball hog.
