the answer to your question is no. there are netbooks out there in the same price range that offer faster performance and better battery life. that laptop is cheap... and that's about all it has going for it. 11/12/2009 10:09:19 AM |

^ that's not true at all...at all!
this is by no means a high-end laptop, but it DOES have a few things going for it compared to a netbook...specifically:
1.) it has the 4500MHD graphics (so you can play HD content) 2.) gigabit ethernet (i don't know that i've seen any netbooks with this, but i might have missed it) 3.) DVD burner (netbooks don't have this at all) 4.) Windows 7 (no netbook around $250 will have this)
for $250, yeah, i think it's actually pretty decent...that processor is absolutely awful, but it'll perform better than a single-core atom 11/12/2009 10:23:21 AM |

fineFINE!
I'd still say spend a bit more and get something nicer. That's 6+ pounds of technology from several years ago. 11/12/2009 11:02:37 AM |

additionally, it's the price range that's the killer...the only netbooks around $250 now (and for a while still, at least) will be the low-end machines and leftover winxp units...not saying you CAN'T put win7 on there, but they won't come with a license (i'm talking about right now, at the $250 price)11/12/2009 12:44:50 PM |

you forgot to mention much larger screen size and a full size keyboard.
netbooks are cool and all, but they can't take over as the primary computer for most people11/12/2009 12:52:28 PM |

It has wireless G and draft-N too... that's a pretty good deal... wonder how the CELERON handles anything of value though.... 11/12/2009 1:48:06 PM |

^^ good point
^ the celeron will suck donkey balls...it's anemic and only a single core, but it will be fine for word processing, media viewing, and intarweb browsing...for only $250, that's to be expected 11/12/2009 1:59:06 PM |
