Announced today....http://www.gopack.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9200&ATCLID=204842071
George Bryan 1st team TE, Willie Young 2nd team DE
Nesbitt first team over Lewis? Wow. Spiller has to be first team over Dwyer too IMO.
Where's that thread too where people were actually arguing with me that Lewis was worse than Jacory Harris and that Lewis wasn't even better than his backup? 12/1/2009 1:58:36 AM |

Wilson, Lewis, Skinner, Ponder, and Harris are all better than he is. 12/1/2009 6:33:34 AM |

Wilson would have won if 1)He hadn't won last year 2) We had a somewhat decent defense 12/1/2009 7:16:02 AM |

^ Are you implying that the 5-7 record is what did him in? We were only 6-6 last year, not that much different from 5-7, but I guess it is in the eyes of the committee. Just kind of silly that they're giving GT's players so much credit because of their record. 12/1/2009 8:34:25 AM |

It's more like he had a really good year this year, but he won last year, and had a worse year this year than last year.
Owen Spencer led the nation in YPC and Jarvis was 8th in the nation in receiving TD's. 12/1/2009 8:47:32 AM |

It's still kind of silly how they decide these things. They should look at it as a legitimate "ACC dream team". Sure Nesbitt had more wins than RW, but RW is clearly a better QB. Surround him with the rest of the 1st team and see what kind of record RW has. That's how they should be approaching the selections. Oh well. 12/1/2009 9:01:49 AM |

it's pretty much like this: If you want any QB on your team out of the ACC, who would you pick?
I guaranfuckingtee you nobody would want nesbitt as their go to QB. what success he has is the product of the system he's in, and his stats are pretty weak overall, other than the W/L column, and for this particular honor, it really shouldn't be about that.
It's clear that all of the all-acc selections were based on feelings and not on data. 12/1/2009 9:05:23 AM |

I just checked Thaddeus Lewis' stats and while he had a good year it went down hill after he shredded our shit defense (that TJ Yates just threw for 280 yds on 19 passes) and played Maryland. I'd keep him 2nd team and put Wilson first. You could argue throwing Skinner into that picture too but meh @ the system offense he ran. Also, Ponder had by far the best year at QB before he got injured
Spiller still made first team, though in the cop out ST position 12/1/2009 9:26:48 AM |

Thats really not how it works
Do you think any NBA exec would have wanted Steve Nash over any other player in the league a few years back ?
Its a combination of stats and wins...If State wins 8 games this year, I think Wilson takes it in a landslide12/1/2009 9:28:32 AM |

As far as passers this year in BCS conferences plus ND
I think McCoy, Tebow, Clausen, Mallet, and Pike are your top 5, and then Wilson is right behind them

all that matters is RW is a beast. i don't care if this committee recognizes it or not. every team we play next year will be worried that's for sure. 12/1/2009 9:52:36 AM |

I don't get the Joel McHale reference, but the fact remains that his long term future is at 2B, not QB

I dunno, he might stay. He didn't light it up in baseball last year, and just because he's graduating doesn't mean he has to leave. He can take like one class per semester and therefore fully devote himself to his sport(s). He may just stick around. 12/1/2009 11:48:00 AM |

actually i'm pretty sure THATS not how it works...
if you are referencing nash being named first team all-nba, it is debatable whether other nba execs would prefer him or another pg.
but i assume you are referencing the MVP. all-acc is not (or i dont think anyway) mean to be most valuable players at each position, it is meant to be BEST player at each position. the player of the year is more like mvp. in terms of best player at the position, nesbitt may have been the best pick for his system, but he wasnt the best player. wilson had way better stats, but didnt have a D or an o-line to help him out.
however, my real gripe is sapp getting more votes than young when young had better stats in every category and way less help. imagine what young's stats would have been this year if our cb's could cover for more than 1 second.12/2/2009 10:11:46 PM |

Matt Leinart just took ballroom dancing his last semester at USC and Andy Katzemoyer (sp?) only took golf his last semester.

your last semester you can be counted as full time if you are taking the hours necessary to complete your degree, at least for reg students and as far as health insurance is concerned. 12/2/2009 10:36:19 PM |

He did make first team, just not as the running back... Look at the bottom of the list.
edit: he only missed Ryan Williams by one vote. And Williams is pretty amazing.

He’s not even in the discussion as purely a running back, and no, it doesn’t matter that he threw a touchdown pass. I’m a big fan of his, and he’s going to make gobs and gobs of money at the next level, but this year he was a great all-around playmaker. There’s just not a spot for him on the all-star team other than as a return man. 12/3/2009 9:43:59 AM |
