So we think my gf dropped her eee last night and that would be the culprit here but i'm not sure of the solution
she shut it down after it seemed to be fine after the drop but now it just gets to where you choose "safe mode, last good known config, start normally" and no matter which one you pick you get the xp loading screen followed by a BSOD and then reboot
i'm fairly good with stuff and I've got my extra laptop here to work with but I just need to know what to do, a year or two ago I used Hirem's boot cd to do something similar but I can't remember which one of the dozen tools I used PLUS she doesnt have a cdrom in the netbook, but it can boot from a removable device 12/9/2009 3:26:55 PM |

On my buddy's netbook he was able to use the restore partition to do a repair install (not wiping the drive). I didn't see the process, but he said it was quite simple. I use Hiren's CD quite regularly as the version I downloaded has bundled with it a (most likely illegal) Live install of XP.
I had a program that would blast any bootable ISO to a flash drive in one sweep, but I would have to dig for it after I get off work. 12/9/2009 3:45:38 PM |

He had a Samsung N110 and I asked him if doing what he did cost him his data and his answer was no, but I don't know how. I blasted my NC10's recovery console away after having the laptop for only 1 hour. 12/9/2009 3:51:09 PM |

I haven't opened a netbook so I'm not sure if this in an option but have you tried taking out the HD and connecting it to another PC to back up her data just in case? 12/9/2009 3:54:11 PM |

Only way for recovery partition to be f'd up is if the actual HDD is f'd up. You're gonna have to replace the drive. It could be something else causing the BSOD, but process of elimination says start with the hard drive. 12/9/2009 4:37:42 PM |

i'm still gonna try and install w7 from a usb or run hiren's from usb and try and find the error
but yeah i'm prepared to have to cough up the money and replace the hd if i have to 12/9/2009 4:56:03 PM |

ok fixed and figured out, HDD Regenerator found a bad sector on the very first .001% of the HD and repaired it. Then I had to wait another 45 min for it to finish the scan, lol. Everything is back to normal. 12/9/2009 7:03:26 PM |

take a video of the loop and then pause on the BSOD frame. 12/9/2009 7:05:03 PM |
