Here's the deal: my nonprofit is uber cash strapped. However we do have a blazing fast server hooked into The Planet datacenter, complete with unmetered 100Mb connection to the net and around 200GB of space left on the drives. So, to raise a little cash we're farming out our space. Keep in mind this is no pussy 'unlimited space unlimited transfer for $5/month' server. Our business is HD streaming, and I've seen it saturate all but the fattest of pipes.
Features: Up to 500 email/hour, unlimited addresses (lol, no spam) Your own CPanel Unlimited MySQL, etc PHP/Perl/Ruby Your only limitation is it will time you out around 90 seconds execution time. No Tech Support CRON support
Plans:
$25/year - 2GB of space, 25GB HTTP transfer, Unlimited FTP* Others to follow.
*FTP transfers when logged in via the admin account do not count toward transfer totals. If you use it as a personal file server and log in via the admin account it's unlimited transfer.
Also, if you need something custom we'd love to help. We don't care what you put on these - we're not monitoring them. But if we start getting notices we'll obviously have to pull it down until it can be reviewed.
At the time of this ad we have 25 spaces open.

Badly.
What can/will you do?
PS: what's the non-profit? You can PM me the answer, if you prefer.

Notices = DCMA, yes? Not "uhm, not to be a tattle or anything, but there's buttfucking on that thar site...and...uhm...well, YOU KNOW...yeah /nosy neighbor" complaints.

Can I send you a hard drive to plug into the server and just let me use the fuck out of that internet connection? (personal fast-as-fuck file server?)

What kind of backup/RAID do you run on service? Just curious on data protection. 12/11/2009 8:41:52 AM |

^^haha, no. I mean... we're installing a 10Mbit line that we may be able to talk about. Technically that's exactly what I'm selling. A 2GB hard drive sitting on a very fast connection. I can do more space if you need, and it'd be tough to run out of transfer. For $10/month you could do 5 spaces - and I'd toss in one extra for free
^This is a mirrored SAN. Can't remember if we set it up 1+0 or 5. We have several setups and I'd actually have to look it up . On top of that we run full local backups weekly and mirror those backups to offsite locations (1 currently @4GB per customer, 2@ Unlimited once I get that new 10Mbit line.) Nightly backups only include CMS system files and databases (we can restore everything except your MP3's or Videos.) However at this price point I don't think we'll be bothering to backup remotely. You've got managed RAID to keep you safe; beyond that I'd say 'oops.'
I will throw in another backup option - we have a distributor license for Joomla backups (a great content management system.) If you wanted to do a nightly/hourly/whatever dump to your machine (got an extra linux box floating around?) than I could toss you a license for free. This solution backs up your entire structure, databases included.
BUY MOAR

2GB is useless to me, sorry. I was talking about sending you like 1TB (obviously no backups). You said Quote : | "Also, if you need something custom we'd love to help." | ]12/11/2009 4:06:38 PM |

^I'm willing to help. just not for $2.
Come back after Christmas. Should have our 10Mbit line ran to the office and you can put your drive on our local machine. However this means you'll need SCSI drives. 12/11/2009 4:41:31 PM |

This does not compromise our 501c3 status, as at the end of the fiscal year all profits are given away or spent on equipment upgrades. I think it's freaking awesome we get to give away money and see lives changed. Everything down to the coffee we drink supports a cause in some way. 12/15/2009 2:41:21 PM |
