All the other threads were a couple years old. I've never been to Snowshoe and me and some other guys were thinking about getting a trip up either around New Years or MLK weekend. Any suggestions on where to stay? Checking their website there's a ton of lodging options (Silver Creek, Village Central, etc.).

A place that can accommodate 5-6 people, close to the slopes, and close to a bar or two would be ideal.

everything is "close to the slopes" and "close to a bar" there - all the lodges and condos are clustered right on top of the mountain. I don't think there's a single place there where you can't walk out onto the slopes.

Central Village is the only real option IMO. We're staying in Allegheny Springs in Jan/Feb for pretty cheap. Got a good deal on lodging on VRBO.com...

Hot tub pool/ski-in -- ski-out/ stumble in and out of every bar and food place in the village/ great rooms for everyone...

there is a skis/snowboard thread in the lounge. We were discussing snow shoe. I'm going up there with some friends for New Years and I believe some other TWWers are going to happen to be there as well.

I've never stayed at a Village Central spot, but from what I've observed, it is the best location in terms of being the absolute closest to lots of stuff.

Silver Creek is very family-oriented. Totally dead after 10p (if not earlier) with everything closed including the "bar," and it's isolated a bit from other parts of the mountain.

also, everything in the village is accessible by shuttle that runs into the wee hours of the morning, for those nights when (a) you're too drunk to walk home or (b) you're not drunk enough to deal with the cold
