like to see perform live?
Im not talking about lame reunion tours or past their prime shit.
I am referring to when a band or artist was totally rocking shit out at the peak of their popularity.
My top 5:
Guns N' Roses Pink Floyd Dave Matthews Band Paul Oakenfold Def Leppard 12/17/2009 12:52:14 AM |

There is no right or wrong answer. That is who I WANT TO SEE. Not who you think I should see or who you expect me to see.
Def Leppard has always rocked shit for me. They were pretty badass and at their prime, according to my uncle, they were the shit. So yeah, I would love to be at one of their concerts in the late 80s.
Oakenfold....I saw him at his New Years eve show last year in Vegas with my cousin who lives there. It was the most amazing shit I have ever been to. It was incredible. However, he had seen him before like 10 times back in the early part of the decade and said that even though that NYE show in Vegas was mindblowing, it was nothing compared to what he used to do. So yes, I included Oakenfold. If you have never been to one of his shows, I suggest you go. It will be one of the best times you ever have. Unless you just totally 100% without a doubt hate techno/trance and arent even open to the suggestion of ever going to shi show. I have known a lot of people who have hated techno and totally changed their mind after seeing Oakenfold live, so don't knock it till you try it. 12/17/2009 1:14:15 AM |

Why is that? Because you like them and would have liked to see them during their prime? Other than the CSIs, I have no clue who they are or what they have sang.12/17/2009 3:28:21 AM |

Because the single greatest rock drummer of all time was behind that kit, Pete Townshend had a wall of Hiwatt amps made to his personal specification, John Entwistle ripped tasteful bass solos like nobody's business, and Roger Daltrey had the most powerful voice in rock music that didn't belong to a complete douche (though he would become one later).
Don't act like it's someone's else's fault that you don't know anything about the goddamned Who.
MAXIMUM RHYTHM AND BLUES
Just watch this and imagine it's happening in front of you, and you'll see why the Who should be included in your list. This is a performance of "A Quick One, While He's Away" from The Rolling Stones' Rock 'n' Roll Circus, a film that was made in 1968 but not released until 1996. This delay occured because the Who blew the doors off every other performer on the show, including the Stones and John Lennon, so the Stones decided to shelve it.
In the interest of not mincing words, it's fucking brilliant.

Lots of good choices in this thread. I'd add Bad Brains and The Misfits to some of the previously mentioned names.
Metallica in the Kill Em All days would have been exciting. The Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets days would be good too.
Slayer right after Reign in Blood maybe? They still put on great shows even though they're almost able to start drawing social security, so I don't feel too bad about it.
CBGB era Ramones with The Dead Boys would be awesome. 12/17/2009 12:04:03 PM |

I think James Brown would be fun.
I'd also want to see some bad-ass Jazz artists at some hole in the wall club. B.B. King and Maceo Parker come to mind...although I bet Maceo would still probably kick ass today.
Hip-Hop wise I'd want to see Rakim and A Tribe Called Quest. And I'd love to see DMX right after he released "It's Dark and Hell is Hot". That's a guilty pleasure favorite album of mine because I listened to it before every sporting event I participated in during high school. I just think it would be packed with energy. RATM falls into that "want to see because of the high-packed energy" category.
Just out of curiosity I'd like to see Prince. I heard he puts on a good show.
And definitely Michael Jackson in his prime.
